No. Don't do that. 99% of the content of the LanguageXX.php files is
loaded into the MediaWiki: namespace when you first install, and
ignored from then on. This is only not the case for the new feature
that lets logged in users select a translation their own interface -
if they choose something other than the site-wide default, it will
then come straight from the Language file. So you should always look
in [[Special:Allmessages]] and edit the appropriate wiki page. Or am I
missing something here?
Come to think, unless I *am* missing something, this is kind of
awkward with respect to important things like license notes, but maybe
there's a different way of editting those that takes effect in all
languages (one of those cryptic $1 substitutions in the mesage, for
instance). If not, maybe there should be.
