I looked at the server php.ini and httpd.conf file within Apache and now all
seems OK.
I could be wrong but it was increasing the PHP memory that seemed to to do
the trick, not the file size.
I successfully imported a 12MB file with no errors.
Thanks for the input people.

I have done some searching so unless I have missed something I think this
is
a mystery.
When attempting to upload a file in excess of @1.8MB I get a message as
follows:
"Upload of import file failed; perhaps the file is bigger than the allowed
upload size"
I have confirmed that the upload_max_filesize is set to 8MB in PHPinfo and
in SpecialImport.php to 20000000.
Can anyone shed any light on where else there might be a ceiling set?
This is a new dedicated server so I have complete control over Apache etc.
Thanks,
Paul
