There are 16 "snapshot" links. Which one is

Depends on the version of mediawiki you're using.
Note that
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Interwiki suggests using
"master" with mediawiki 1.19+ and gives a direct link (snapshot) to an archive
*.tar.gz without having to jump through the git hoops.
The "master" maybe unstable code though (it's always the most recent
available code, it's not a fixed snapshot in time) so you can also go to the
"heads" section (just below the list of 16 snapshot) and download the one that
matches your version
e.g. mediawiki 1.20 --> heads REL1_20
so you click on REL1_20 and go to
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/gitweb?p=mediawiki/extensions/Interwiki.git;…
Then click on the most recent snapshot link (at the top of the list, the one with the
REL1_20 tag) to get an archive of the code. That should be more "stable" code I
guess.
