If you really need the space, you can compress old revisions.
Otherwise, the only thing you can do is to hack the DB.
The fact that I do many minor edits means that I've been bloating my
database. It's something that's somewhat offensive to my senses so I
went looking for a solution.
WikiMedia and I have different points of view. I'm the only author of
my wiki, and I have no need to keep *very old* revisions except
perhaps in an archive stored on the side, and maybe not even then.
I also don't like that I've got these pseudo-deleted pages floating
around clogging things up..
Well, I understand that mediawiki will finally be able to store
revisions instead of complete pages for every diff Real Soon Now..
that would make me happier.
Right now I'm just doing mysql dumps for backups.. it hasn't been that
big of a deal, although my database is somewhere over 80MB.. this will
make it increasingly more inconvenient as time passes. I may look
into dumping changes past a certain date or some such voodoo.
