It does not appear to be a permissions issue. After all, I am clearly able
to upload small files (unless Linux has a permissions setting for file write
size that I do not know about) -- and -- I am able to upload very large
files (so long as I tell it to ignore the warning)
My platform is:
Server Version: Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat)
Server Built: Aug 2 2006 05:21:10
its ok that all the file go in the same place....I just had to ask.
but please continue to consider what might be causing my PDF file upload
problem.
ongoing thanks,

not for others. For the ones that failed to upload, I get the
"Internal

message:
Internal error - Could not copy file "/tmp/phpBjaEWm" to

What platform are you on: Linux, Solaris, Windows (cygwin?), ...? Have
you checked the permissions in the sub-directories under
mediawiki-1.6.10/images?
2) Is there any way to keep images and non-image
files (like pdfs and
docs) in separate folders?
I don't believe so, at least not easily; "Image" is MW's term for
"Uploaded file", and it treats them all pretty much the same.
