Hi, System messages are just like any other articles, note that they use the MediaWiki namespace.
You can go to http://your-wiki-whatever/index.php/Special:Allmessages
There you will a find a list of all system messages, the name and link to the message (then you can click the "edit" link on the page), the default text, and the current text.
To change the main page name edit the system message MediaWiki:Mainpage ( http://your-wiki-whatever/index.php/MediaWiki:Mainpage ).
