Yes, I believe so.
To summarize your postings (and to close this thread):
[Summary snipped] This seems like an accurate summary, by my understanding.
I can live with this situation, but it might be useful
for the future
to have an official syntax for relative links in mediawiki. This is
only a suggestion, don't worry ;-) If I understood it not correctly
then forgive me ...
Yes, it's an interesting thought. The main problem with having an
"official syntax" is wondering what it would actually be, since there
is by definition no prefix (http:// or whatever) to spot them by, so
you're going to end up with something which looks more like the HTML
(like a <link> extension, or a special {{locallink:foo}} "variable")
Actually, it's just occurred to me there may be another way - you
might be able to set up an interwiki prefix expanding to "", or to
"../", or something, and then use [[YourPrefix:../foo]]. I'm not sure
whether this would work - and you'd have to beware of MediaWiki's
assumption that interwiki links have the same title rules as internal
ones - but it might be worth investigating. (There should be stuff
linked from
http://meta.wikimedia.org/Help:Contents about how to
manage interwiki links)
