While I'd love to agree with these suggestions, they'll likely fail in
most real world sitations.
He wants to be
able to use 'huge fonts' in the color 'red' for comments
Add him a
"huge fonts" button: insertTags("<span
class=\"huge\">",
"</span>", "This text will show HUGE"); (with appropiate
'huge' CSS:
font-size: 200%; color: red... etc)
It was an example - what if he wants to make it green instead of red,
and doesn't wanna have to ask (or learn, for that matter) because he's
used to things being straightforward like in Word?!
(Of course you could argue wiki markup is much more straightforward than
WYSIWYG, and I'd definitely second that, but only if you've dealt with
it before... )
Give him a document to proofread, but forbid him using
the menus or
toolbars. Unless being a "convinced techstaff" knowing by heart the
access keys, it's impossible.
Did he mention that the guy is the manager (i.e. superior)?!
Seriously, there are few situations where the wiki advacate has the
power to command people like this.
