Hi
I just wanted to send a small thanks for "finally" solving the web upgrader
problem for us with hosting services and no shell access.
Upgrading from MediaWiki 1.17 to 1.19 worked like a dream even via the web
upgrader, in all previous versions this used to be (at least for me) a
lengthy technical nightmare of digging through misc articles and helpfiles
and then some trial and error on top of that, now I just had to make some
minor tweaks to the LocalSettings.php when advised by the upgrade process
and then everything was in place. I'm still pleasantly surprised, almost
chocked even.
Or, in short, thanks :-)
Best regards
Mikael Rönnbäck

Subject: [MediaWiki-announce] MediaWiki 1.19.0 released
I'm happy to announce the availability of the first stable release of the
new MediaWiki 1.19 release series.
MediaWiki 1.19 is a large release that contains many new features and bug
fixes. This is a summary of the major changes of interest to users.
You can consult the RELEASE-NOTES-1.19 file for the full list of changes in
this version.
Our thanks go to everyone who helped to improve MediaWiki by testing the
beta release and submitting bug reports.

What's new?
****************************************************************
MediaWiki 1.19 brings the usual host of various bugfixes and new features.
Comprehensive list of what's new is in the release notes.
* Bumped MySQL version requirement to 5.0.2.
* Disable the partial HTML and MathML rendering options for Math,
and render as PNG by default.
* MathML mode was so incomplete most people thought it simply didn't work.
* New skins/common/*.css files usable by skins instead of having to copy
piles of
generic styles from MonoBook or Vector's css.
* The default user signature now contains a talk link in addition to the
user link.
* Searching blocked usernames in block log is now clearer.
* Better timezone recognition in user preferences.
* Extensions can now participate in the extraction of titles from URL paths.
* The command-line installer supports various RDBMSes better.
* The interwiki links table can now be accessed also when the interwiki
cache
is used (used in the API and the Interwiki extension).
Internationalization
- --------------------
* More gender support (for instance in user lists).
* Add languages: Canadian English.
* Language converter improved, e.g. it now works depending on the page
content language.
* Time and number-formatting magic words also now depend on the page
content language.
* Bidirectional support further improved after 1.18.

Dear Media Wiki Community,
First I would like to say sorry if I wrongly ask help by this way. I am
having a problem related to importing abstract.xml which is dumped data
from http://my.wikipedia.org . I am getting the error of "Import failed:
Expected <mediawiki> tag, got feed ". I have no idea for that.
Second problem is importing a file named
mywiki-20120430-all-titles-in-ns0.gz which is situated on
http://dumps.wikimedia.org/mywiki/20120430/ . I am not sure which file type
it is and how I import.
Thank you so much.
Best Regards,
Ko Min
Is there a way to get a pages last updated timestamp from somewhere
other than the page itself?
I'd like to build a page which will be a table of certain wiki pages I
keep an eye on, and the timestamp for that pages last update? The
{{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}} magic word only seems to give you the last update
for the page that you're viewing.
