Hey,
> Are there ways to speed up the page load time?
Not mentioned in the stuff liked by people so far, but highly relevant: Get
MediaWiki 1.17 or later when using older versions, so you get all the wins
from the Resource Loader: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Resource_loader
Cheers

If you're going to a conference, here's a leaflet you can print and
give out to encourage people to contribute to MediaWiki:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/File:MediaWiki_flyer_20110725-1.pdf
Also, if you'd like to teach a two-hour "How to customize/hack
MediaWiki" workshop at some upcoming conference, unconference,
barcamp, whatever, I can help you out. Guillaume Paumier and I are
turning http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_become_a_MediaWiki_hacker/Workshop
into a syllabus that anyone can teach.
Some upcoming conferences where we could recruit more testers, users,
and developers:
* Ubuntu Global Jam, 2-4 Sept., 42 events around the world
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGlobalJam
* Open Video Conference, especially the open media developers' track,
Sept. 10-12, New York City, USA http://openvideoconference.org/
* ZendCon (PHP conference), Oct. 17-20, Santa Clara, USA
http://www.zendcon.com/
* PostgreSQL Europe, Oct. 18-21, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
http://2011.pgconf.eu
* PHPCon Poland, Oct. 21-23, http://www.phpcon.pl/ Wikia's Łukasz
Garczewski is attending and giving the talk "Do you speak English, yes
I don't" and will help me out, but more help is welcome.
If you are going to one of those and you'd like Wikimedia stickers or
buttons to pass out, please let me know.

Hello all :)
I found that I can't creat a English entry with the small cpas.
e.g. I cannot creat the "qHD"entry, when I do that it will change to the QHD
instead.
How can I do?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could point me to an init.d script for
Ubuntu 11 for starting the Lucene-search extension daemon at boot. We're
prototyping a wiki for use, and we're not quite sure how best to
proceed. My apologies if this isn't the best forum for this, my searches
elsewhere haven't turned up much. Thanks!

Hi,
after upgrade from 1.16.5 to 1.17.0 all my entries based on templates with german umlauts disappeared.
Example:
Template:Täglich is changed to Template:Täglich
I can't find the reason. Database link problem? Database table templatelinks is unchanged. In the editor the entry {{Template:Täglich}} is displayed correctly.
Produkt Version
MediaWiki 1.17.0
PHP 5.3.3 (apache2handler)
MySQL 5.1.52
Centos 5.6
Many thanks for your help.
Norbert
I was trying to know which templates can have that sort of layout,
just trying to categorize templates on basis of its feature or
purpose.
Thanks

The boxes that are on a wikipedia-page on the top right hand corner
generally, as I have seen are created by using templates Infobox or
Navbox. Are there any other templates which can result in such a box?
Thanks

Kind of a newbie question... I'm not even sure of the appropriate
taxonomy for my request, maybe that's why Google didn't help.
Using last stable (1.16.2 I believe), I'm trying to achieve this:
Got a default setup, Mediawiki installed in /w, Apache conf edited with
an Alias. So now my wiki is accessible at http://domain.tld/wiki/
I would like to link a specific namespace (let's say "bar") to its own
URL, outside of /foo/.
Ok, to rephrase, hopefully better:
I would like:
domain.tld/wiki/Bar:SomePage
to be in fact:
domain.tld/Bar/SomePage
And if Apache could rewrite on the client side /wiki/Bar:SomePage into
/Bar/SomePage that would be even better, albeit not a deal breaker.
Without breaking anything in MW of course. And if the Recent or Search
tool return the Bar:SomePage that's not an issue, I don't want to
rewrite the MW core :)
Anyone got an idea?
