Hi,
I try to install MediaWiki 1.18.0 on tuxfamily.org, but I can't connect to db, although I use the same db name and password as on http://phpmyadmin.tuxfamily.org where I can connect to db.
I did not change the default db user name = root
I get the message
DB connection error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) (localhost).
so what can I do ?
sincerely
Klaus

I am getting the errors shown below when this template call is issued:
> {{reflist}}
It is included in several pages that I have 'borrowed' from wikipedia.
I also copied the actual template asked for into my Mediawiki 1.17 site
to clear the dependency.

Dear all,
on Special:RecentChanges, the number of recent changes to display can be
adjusted using the URL parameter 'limit'. However, this parameter does
not seem to have any effect on the RSS/Atom feed of recent changes,
which is associated with this page. Why is that, and what can I do to
get a recent changes feed that displays more items than the default 50?
Cheers,
Kilian
MW 1.17
Im uploading files/images via the api, and it works perfectly.
When everything goes well, I get back an associative-array, with 'result' equaling 'Success'
[result] => Success
[imageinfo] => Array
When there is a warning I get:
[result] => Warning
[warnings] => warning list array
But when there is an error, it just spits out a paragraph tag, with the error in it. like:
<p>verification-error: This file did not pass file verification</p>
I thought the was strange, shouldn't it come back like so?
[result] => Error
[errors] => error list array
So how do I check for errors without doing is_array() ?
Thanks,
-Adam

Thanks for the right suggestion! Increasing $wgMaxImageArea to 1.25e8 solved the problem. Thanks a lot!

We just released a book titled" The Private Dick Diaries" on November 30 we
have been working on this project for about 2 years. The book is a
collection of short stories and is very humorous. If you're interested you
can find it at: theprivatedickdiaries.com or from our web site at
idahoprivateeye.com we would love to have some feedback from all of you! It
is the first in a series of 10 books we have planned. It can also be found
at local books stores listed on the site and also Amazon.
Merry Christmas!

We have a problem with generating thumbnails for large PNG files (10300
x 6000 and so on) in our intranet installation of MW 1.17.0. I've got a
"Error creating thumbnail: Invalid thumbnail parameters" error.
Generation of JPG thumbs for big files works fine, generation of medium
PNG files (2550 x 3510) works well too.
$wgMaxShellMemory and $wgMaxShellFileSize are set to "unlimited".
How can we find a bottleneck?

Hello,
I have been running Lucene and OAI for some time now with much success but
in efforts to stage a test upgrade from 1.16 to 1.18 I am redoing our dev
instances as many many travesties have occurred in this environment.
The issue arises from when i am attempting to re-"setup" OAI I go to the
index.php?title=Special:OAIRepository
I get the following error
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 2 at column 1: Document is empty
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.
Now in production this thing is working as expected but in dev this is the
only error I get.
Any guidance would be most appreciated
Thanks
You're invited to San Francisco's first MediaWiki hackathon, January
20-22, 2012.
If you're a developer or designer and want to build an application on
top of MediaWiki, or using Wikipedia content, please participate in our
hackathon in San Francisco (January 20-22 at pariSoma). We'll bring
together our senior coders with new developers to build applications
running in MediaWiki itself, on mobile devices, or based on Wikipedia's
content and data.
This is a free event put on by the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit
that runs Wikipedia and maintains MediaWiki. You'll get a brief overview
of all the key technologies you need, and then you'll have a weekend to
build something amazing and make it open source. At the end, show it off
and take the next step to get it running on our servers. Join us Friday
night for drinks and conversations, and get ready for a weekend of
coding. Food and drinks provided. :-)
