Hello guys,
I often have to present dialogues and conversations in my articles. Is there
a special syntax form mediawiki uses, that could display them in a form of
nice quotes?
Are there any live example in use?
Regards
robert
A liquid-thread message was place on a page that was problematic for me, so I
moved it to my user talk space so that I wouldn't forget to deal with it.
That left a placeholder comment on the original page, so this is just as
problematic as the original message. I no longer need the original message,
so both could be deleted. The problem is that I can't find a any safe way of
getting rid of the placeholder. When I deleted it I lost both content and
theming of the page, and had to revert.
There must be a safe way of doing this. Can anyone help?

New to KDE Software? - get help from http://userbase.kde.org
I am quite surprise to find that there is hardly any decent (up to date)
spell check for a popular software like mediawiki. I came across the
following two:
1. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Spellcheck
However it does not looks like that it is currently being maintained. Last
update was in 2007!
2.
http://wiki.montcopa.org/MediaWiki/index.php?title=MediaWiki_Spell_Checker
Asks to modify the core mediawiki file like EditPage.php which I remember is
a no no and one tends to get a lot of heat if they edit core files...
So my question:
What are some of the solutions that the users on this list are using for
spellcheck functionality in their mediawiki?
Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion Platonides. After some digging around it appears that I have the same problem identified at http://readlist.com/lists/lists.clamav.net/clamav-users/1/6452.html which looks to be a problem with clamdscan passing a path within the chroot to clamd which typically won't exist. To test this one can 'touch /var/www/tmp/test' then 'chroot -u www /var/www /usr/local/bin/clamdscan /tmp/test' and it will fail with '/tmp/test: lstat() failed: No such file or directory. ERROR'. Now if one executes 'touch /tmp/test' and tries to scan within the chroot again it will work (barring any permissions problems). What I need is a way to tell clamd to append the chroot path onto the path supplied by clamdscan or trick clamdscan to not check for file existence since clamdscan checks if the path is valid inside the chroot then passes the path directly to clamd.

Apache comes chrooted by default (a configuration I want to keep) therefore when the apache user tries to scan a file it finds that no executable named clamscan or clamdscan is inside the chroot. Now I've tried to copy/synlink the executable(s) and the dependent files under the chroot and execute the scan however in my debug log file I always get:

If the apache user (www) is running the scan and the same user is executing the scan then permissions of usr/local/bin/clamdscan is 555 (all the way through the path) then it seems it should at least be able to find the file. An odd but seemingly unrelated problem is that the temporary directory is set to /tmp (within the chroot) even though $wgTmpDirectory is set to /htdocs/wiki/images and in php settings they're set to /htdocs/temp. Trying to compile clamav with the --prefix and --exec-prefix options set inside the chroot doesn't result in the program being installed inside the chroot.

It looks like installing clamav inside the chroot path should help but it isn't working as I had hoped. I made a test php script that executes the shell command that mediawiki does (from the wfShellExec function in GlobalFunctions.php) and directly put the desired command for a test file within the chroot and it still behaves the same way when invoked directly on the command line "php test.php". If someone has any suggestions on how to get these programs to work together I'd like to see them. Thanks in advance!

Hello,
For maintenance purposes, I need to be able to get a list of pages that
are on the first level (e.g. http://domain.com/topicname ).
My wiki currently has the "SubpageList3" and "DynamicPageList"
extensions which seem to be capable of achieving this but I can't find
how to specify the top level as a parent.
Do you have any idea how I could achieve this? (adding another plugin
could be an option)
Hello James, thanks for the feedback.
I'm with a new installation of Wiki MediaWiki 1.15.5, PHP 5.3.2
(apache2handler) MySQL 5.1.46-log. Not yet installed any new extension or
new plugin, or standard installation. And I would like to know how to
perform the installation of FCKeditor that my Wiki. Could forwards me an
example of how I should perform the installation of FCKeditor?
Waiting in the wings.
Sincerely
Hugo Vasques

Hello guys,
no direct question to mediawiki but how can I subscribe to the mailing
list that I only receive answers to my own mails I posted?
Regards
robert
Hello,
I'm having trouble integrating FCKeditor in my Wiki, I wonder if anyone can
help me accomplish this task.
I need the FCKeditor with urgency.
I await a return.
Thank you.
Hugo Vasques
This question might be offtopic here, but I do not realy know PHP
well, and would like to know the following:
1. Is there a offline WYSIWYG editor that can assist one in creating
wiki pages?
2. Are there any resources out there that can assist me in learning PHP
perhaps that one uses in wiki pages?
Thanks.
Regards,
Sarel
