$wgDBtransactions gets set to true if using InnoDB tables. Is there
an advantage to using InnoDB tables?
The disadvantage is that with MySQL there is a file, ibdata1, that
seems to grow endlessly if InnoDB tables are used. See
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=1341
We're wondering if we should just convert everything to MyISAM. Any
thoughts?

Hi all,
I've created some custom namespaced on one of my wikis, Botwiki
(previously known as pywikipedia).
I've put these lines in my LocalSettings.php file:
- ---
#Custom namespaces
$wgExtraNamespaces =
array(100 => "Manual",
101 => "Manual talk",
102 => "Python",
103 => "Python talk",
104 => "Php",
105 => "Php talk",
106 => "Perl",
107 => "Perl talk",
108 => "AWB",
109 => "AWB talk",
110 => "IRC",
111 => "IRC talk",
112 => "Other",
113 => "Other talk"
);
$wgContentNamespaces[] = 100;
$wgContentNamespaces[] = 102;
$wgContentNamespaces[] = 104;
$wgContentNamespaces[] = 106;
$wgContentNamespaces[] = 108;
$wgContentNamespaces[] = 110;
$wgContentNamespaces[] = 112;
- ---
However, I have a big problem: when I go to a page in one of these new
namespaces (not the discussion, the main ones), for example
http://botwiki.sno.cc/wiki/Perl:Copyright_Violation_Bot , I found the
red link to the discussion page. It's right, as there is no discussion
page for that article. But if you click on it, it brings you to
http://botwiki.sno.cc/w/index.php?title=Perl_talk:Copyright_Violation_Bot&a…
correct, of course. But have a look of the article and discussion tabs:
they are both red! The first, "article", leads to
http://botwiki.sno.cc/w/index.php?title=Perl_talk:Copyright_Violation_Bot&a…
when it should lead to
http://botwiki.sno.cc/wiki/Perl:Copyright_Violation_Bot and the second,
"discussion", leads to
http://botwiki.sno.cc/w/index.php?title=Talk:Perl_talk:Copyright_Violation_…
, when it should lead to
http://botwiki.sno.cc/w/index.php?title=Perl_talk:Copyright_Violation_Bot&a…
.
It's the first time I deal with custom namespaces :-( but I have some
ideas of what it can be. Can the problem be with the
$wgContentNamespaces settings? So it detects everything as ns0? (don't
think so).
Or can it be the fact that I haven't used an underscore in the
$wgExtraNamespaces definition?

I want to moving all pages in a certain namespace (about 60 pages) into
the the "main" namespace. I couldn't find how to do this, so I tried
exporting the pages and importing them and I ran into all sorts of
problems. Is there a way to do what I want without using the import and
export features (and without having to move each of them manually)?
Thanks.
Hi, I'm going to be away from an internet connection for a few weeks at a
time over the next few weeks but would like to be able to carry a snapshot
of my Wiki to reference so I can work on some materials while I'm on the
road. I've been looking around via Google and I'm finding a number of
projects that look promising but everyone I've looked at so far seems to
fall into the vaporware category. Does anyone know of a workable solution?
Something that runs in either Linux or XP would be good. Or maybe there's
something out there that'll let me take an export of a bunch of page from my
wiki and produce a pdf or something?
Anything that'll let me carry and comfortably view a bunch of articles from
the wiki would be helpful.
After banging my head on a wall for quite a while, I realize I may have
made a very silly misinterpretation regarding the functionality provided
by Ryan Lane's LDAPAuthentication (and LDAPAutoAuthentication) extension.
Here is my scenario
MW 1.13.1 on IIS 6.0 (Win2K3)
IIS has IWA configured for IE and it works without flaw. (No anonymous
auth on IIS, all visitors are logged-in domain members using IE with the
wiki's NetBIOS name in the "Intranet Zone")
I have LDAPAuthentication working /almost/ perfectly (with the exception
of two out of four preferences which do not get set..but thats a thread
for tomorrow)
Can I not use the extension(s) to automatically log the user into the
wiki without a Smartcard? Or am I forced to buy a commercial extension
like the solution from IOPLEX?
Thanks, folks, this is driving me nuts...

Hi, I got my webhost to restore my database for me but apparently, my
website <http://dummipedia.org/Free_Simplified_Online_Encyclopedia> turns
out the following database error:
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the
software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "LocalFile::loadFromDB". MySQL returned error "1054:
Unknown column 'img_sha1' in 'field list' (localhost)".
Do you think I should consult Bugzilla?

Well, instead of use CSS (this affects all the tables of the wiki) probably
you cand add the style properties to the table itself:
*bullet
*bullet
{|
|Test1
|}
*bullet
*bullet
{| border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0"
|Test2
|}
*bullet
*bullet
{|align=left border="1pt" style="margin-right:20px;"
|Test3
|}
*bullet
*bullet
*bullet
This seems to work...

You are using a mediawiki wiki? This works just fine for me:
-- start WIKI text--
=Template testing=
Here is a [{{SP}}] space?
Through a template this looks like: {{Test| }}
Template template: {{Test|{{SP}}}}
Total: {{Test|{{SP}}M{{SP}}A{{SP}}}}
-- end WIKI text
-- start Result
Template testing
Here is a [ ] space?
Through a template this looks like: Hi there, how are [ ] you?
Template template: Hi there, how are [ ] you?
Total: Hi there, how are [ M A ] you?
-- end Result
Template:SP contains a single line:

Template:Test contains a single line:
Hi there, how are [{{{1}}}] you?

Hi, I finally managed to upgrade my database from Version 1.12 to 1.14.
Everything seems to be okay except that the website doesn't show any
articles. I know I have to transfer the images folder over. What else do I
need to do? Do I need to transfer the docs folder too? My website is at
http://teknologi-maklumat.com/teknologi/index.php/Main_Page
It really looks like a new installation!
