Hello, I changed mail addresses but same problem as before when now using
trunk/phase3. Is it correct that I should be trying to download:
http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/trunk/phase3
When doing this I still get an error message after 10 seconds.
Richard
Does anyone know how I can (or if I can) use the DPL extension to query for:
1. The most popular pages based on view count (if this is available,
is it available to query view count based on a specific period of time
as well?)
2. The most recent pages based on added date.
Gentlemen, how may I prevent users from creating pages whose titles
match a certain regular expression?
Sure there is Special:ProtectedTitles, but that isn't for regular
expressions (and how one puts things into it isn't clear.)
Yes, there is $wgLegalTitleChars, but that isn't a regular
expression either.
Yes there are $wgSpamRegex and $wgSummarySpamRegex, but these are for
the page bodies, not the titles.
Hmmm, need an array of
arrays($namespace,$regexp,$message_to_print_when_they_match_that_regexp).
If $namespace is NULL, match any namespace.
On a shared host, on Plesk they could install installatron which
could take care of it automatically (and yes it would cost them
money) or on cPanel you could do the same with Fantastico.

Hello,
There is a problem with left aligned tables and bullet lists. The following wiki code results in a left-aligned table and surrounded by a bullet list, but the bullets overlap the table.
{| align=left border="1pt"
|| Test
|}
* Bullet
* Bullet
* Bullet
* Bullet
* Bullet
Is there a solution solving that? Maybe a patch for the style sheet?
Thank you!
Roland
I have a page that gives information on a company which I could add
to a category called "business". In addition, I would like to be
able to have the owner's name show up under a category called
"people", but I may or may not want to create a page for the owner of
all companies.
Is there a way to format the {{category:people}} line so that it will
display the owner's name when you go to the category page, but the
link will actually go to the company page?
For example, if I had a page for a company owned by James Smith
called Smith, Smith, and Jones and I try something like
{{category:people|Smith, James}} the actual display on the people
page would read "Smith, Smith, and Jones" instead of the desired
"Smith, James"

Wow, that is an extension I hadn't heard of but it sure looks
extremely powerful. I'll have to study it and will definitely
consider it as a possible solution to my current problem.
Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Presumably you have a laptop of some kind or you wouldn't consider Linux. Have
you thought about simply installing mysql and mediawiki on it and doing a dump/
restore? That's what I do (I'm using Fedora FC10, but I would think almost any
modern Linux distro would make it quite easy), and it takes far less disk space
than you might think, even for a decent sized wiki.
Hello
I tried to upgrade from 1.11 to 1.14.
All operations have been done locally with the Mediawiki tools.
The details of the procedures are given in the wiki page :
http://comprendrelactualite.free.fr/mediawiki/index.php/Mediawiki_Upgrading…
(log in and comment please)
Everything seemed to be ok.
Nevertheless, when checking some (not all) pages at random, while the
page name is correctly provided by the wiki, the page text is empty and
I got the following error message, that I do not understand :
La base de données n’a pas trouvé le texte d’une page qu’elle
aurait dû trouver, intitulée «XXXX» (révision # : 2485).
Ceci est habituellement causé en suivant le lien périmé d’un
diff ou de l’historique vers une page ayant été supprimée.
Si cela n’est pas le cas, vous pouvez avoir trouvé un bogue dans
le programme. Veuillez en faire part à un administrateur et lui
noter l’adresse cible du lien.
which could be translated by :
the database did not find the text of a page that it should have
found, named « XXXX » (révision # :2485)
This is usually due to following the obsolete link of a diff or
of the history to a page that has been removed.
If this is not the case, you should have found a bug etc...
1. Why this error occurs ?
2. What could I do to fix it ?
Thanks
Francois Colonna
Hello,
Is there a newsgroup that has the same posting as this mailing list. Just
wondering as it might be easier for me to read offline.
Thanks,
