Sorry for my earlier posts -- the Subject heading wasn't descriptive enough...
Is "Live Search" = "Searching Dynamic Content"? I'm not sure we're in the same thread... but if we are, yes, I'm working on something like that right now.
I must say I'm running into some difficulties, mostly design philosophy issues rather than coding issues. Fetching content from outside the Wiki implies that you're pretty happy leaving the content out there... and this seems to run counter to the Wiki way of doing things. I'm actually looking for a happy compromise at this point.
And oh, your $ 10 won't hurt either... =)

Hmmm... and where can I get more information about how the MediaWiki search index works?

Is there an extension to manipulate datetime timestamps?
I.e., I'd like to subtract a time, i.e. one hour, one day or one
week from a timestamp, to be used in conjunction with
DynamicListPage.
Ciao!

Hello,
ive just set up the Wiki and it works great!
Now im at the point i want to change and add some things:
<doku>Creating Filesystems</doku>
should build a table with align right that should look like this:
----------------------------------------------------
| Dokument: | Creating Filesystems |
----------------------------------------------------
| Author: | $login + $date |
----------------------------------------------------
Building the table works, it even puts the tagged variable into it, but i
wanted to use mediawikis implemented tag '~~~~' for the Author.
Im not a php coder, this one is kinda right out of help:wiki
$wgExtensionFunctions = array('authorbox');
function authorbox() {
global $wgParser;
$wgParser->setHook( 'doku', 'authorrender' );
}
function authorrender ($input, $args, $parser) {
$output = '<table border="1" align="right">' . "\n";
$output .= '<tr><td><strong>Dokument:</strong></td><td><code>' .
htmlspecialchars($input) . '</code></td></tr>' . "\n";
$output .= '<tr><td><strong>Author:</strong></td><td>' .
$parser->recursiveTagParse('~~~~') . '</td></tr>' . "\n";
$output .= '</table>';
return $output;
}
Wheres the error? :'(
it doesent parse me the author, output looks like this:
Dokument: test
Author: ~~~~
thanks in advance and i wish you all a nice weekend :]

Does anyone know if there is a plugin to support live searching?
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page has this feature, but I have
never seen an extension for this.
Anyone know how this done?

Hello all,
We are trying to setup a wiki for collaboration and need some advice.
Requirements
1. authentication via LDAP
2. group content private to groups (groups defined in LDAP)
3. group content needs to be private across any pages created by group
members
4. authentication should flow to any new pages created by group
Example
I will have 25 project teams of 6 students, 1-2 faculty, and 1-5 industry
participants. Each team will have their own wiki page(s) for collaboration and
information sharing. No one outside of the team and the program director
(who needs access to all pages) should be able to access the team's wiki.
Requested Info
Can you recommend a wiki that fits the bill? Or is there a way to do this
in MediaWiki ? We are trying to avoid a major customization process.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Sowmya
In my case, wiki runs on Linux. But our mail server is Exchange on
Windows server. In such a case, how can I get MW's email functions to
work?

Jack

mail() didn't work when I tested it with a small php script. Finally,
the
two steps below made my MW work :-)
--------------------------------------------
1. Got a help from
http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-14639.html
[root@xxx public_html]# chmod g+s /usr/sbin/sendmail.sendmail
[root@xxx public_html]# ls -l /usr/sbin/sendmail.sendmail
-r-xr-sr-x 1 root smmsp 774264 May 6 2005 /usr/sbin/sendmail.sendmail
2. In the server, /var/spool/clientmqueue was originally owned by root.
changed owner so that sendmail can have access to
/var/spool/clientmqueue
[root@xxx public_html]# chown smmsp:smmsp /var/spool/clientmqueue/
[root@xxx public_html]# ls -al /var/spool/clientmqueue/
total 8
drwxrwx-w- 2 smmsp smmsp 4096 Aug 16 22:13 .

I appreciate you all who gave me advices and comments,

Hi! I'm writing a custom tag that fetches data from external sources and embedded in a page (view) "on the fly". My question is: would the dynamic data retrieved in such a fashion be searchable using MediaWiki's keyword search (or perhaps Semantic MediaWiki's Semantic Search)???

You can see the javascript for this at
http://www.wikia.com/skins/wikia/js/main.js
It relies on the Yahoo! User Interface Library
