Hi all,
In an effort to try and reduce spam on my Wiki, I've been trying to get
some anti-spam extensions. I already have Spam Blacklist installed, and
I just recently got ConfirmEdit in place; I wanted to add Bad Behavior
just to be especially safe. But when I upload the files (after adding
the requisite line to LocalSettings.php), I get the following error:
Fatal error: call to undefined function wfQuery() in
home/*****/public_html/wikific/extensions/Bad-Behavior/bad-behavior-mediawiki.php
on line 63.
Line 63 reads:
$bb2_last_query = wfQuery($query, DB_WRITE);
I haven't edited anything in any files relating to this extension except
for the line necessary in LocalSettings.php. Any idea why it might not
be working?
What do you use to combat spam in your Wiki?
My most recent bout of spam has been users creating obviously-false
accounts; I'm notified when their email address bounces. But they create
articles anyway-- things that look like news articles, but are filled
with external links, like WOW Powerleveling and things like that. How
can I combat this, if Bad Behavior won't do the trick?
Any help is appreciated!

Thanks for your help. The index.php is definitely in the right
folder, and I'm definitely typing the right URL. (It's the same URL I
used to run the configuration script.) However, I just noticed
something important: The request for index.php first redirects to
Main_Page and *then* gives the 404 error. Does that help?

Dear All,
Do any of you know of a mediawiki plugin that would allow users to use
the wiki offline? I would be interested in, at least, offline editing
capabilities.
Sincerely,
Bruno

A wiki I use sometimes displays raw HTML instead of the rendered
page. It's intermittent and the pages are fine on reload. It only
seems to happen in Safari (I've only tried the 3 beta, which is now
my default browser), so this is probably partly a Safari bug. But
I've never seen this on any other wiki.
Unfortunately it's a closed wiki, so people can't see for
themselves. The question: has anyone else ever seen this/know what's
happening? The wiki is running on a Sun of some kind.

We are ready to move our mediawiki installation from a closed test
server to a public production server. I moved the entire mediawiki-1.10
directory to the new server, dumped the mysql db and then imported it to
the new server and added the same credentials to the db.
But the wiki isn't working. The only thing different between the two
servers is that I'm using virtual hosting in the production server. So
I'm wondering if there are httpd configurations that I haven't set in
the Virtual Host configuration, and/or if there is something extra I
need to do in addition to moving the mediawiki-1.10 directory and DB to
the new server.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim

Hallo,
could someone explain me to do a redirect to a specialsite f.i.
NewPageWizard. So it looks like ...after redirect.

Which file has to be added.
Thanks for some advices

I have a few questions. If you know the answer, it's
much appreciated.
1) How do I unlock the discussion page so that anyone
can post to it, without them being able to edit the
main page?
2) The <ref> and <references/> tags do not work
according to instructions in my experience. They just
display literally in the page without being
interpreted by Mediawiki. Am I missing something?
3) How do I find out which version of MediaWiki I'm
running?
4) How do I assign a superuser so that no one else can
edit pages?
Thank you very much for your kind attention to this.

Is there a way to display a default image instead of
the gray box when the file hasn't been uploaded yet?
Clicking on this default would generate the same
action as it does now.
It would behave something like a |default=default.png|
parameter to [[image:...]]
Perhaps there is a way I missed to see if a page exists and
if not to generate some custom HTML.

I hope this isnt an obvious question but I don¹t seem to see a syntax for
the DeleteOldRevisions.php script?
When I attempt to run it with simply php xxx/xx/xx/DeleteOldRevisions.php I
get streams of text followed by a message effectively telling me I bust the
memory limits. It is trying to process 200k pages all at once.
Is there a way to limit it by page_id or something?
Maybe DeleteOldrevisions 100000 110000¹ meaning from 100000 to 110000 or
something.
Thanks,
Paul
