Hello,
Does anybody have any thoughts as to why internal article links would be
different for unauthenticated users vs. authenticated users? On the
Main_Page article I have the following wikitext:
[[How_to_contribute_to_FLIP]]
When Main_Page is rendered for guest users, it produces the following
HTML:
<pre>
<a href="/index.php/How_to_contribute_to_FLIP" title="How to contribute to
FLIP">How_to_contribute_to_FLIP</a>
</pre>
However, when an authenticated user views the same page, it produces this:
<pre>
<a href="/flip/index.php/How_to_contribute_to_FLIP" title="How to
contribute to FLIP">How_to_contribute_to_FLIP</a>
</pre>
The link for the guest user results in a 404 Not Found because index.php
does not live at the root of the webserver. Help is appreciated.

My next question is somewhat related to my earlier
email on "Custom tag within a custom tag".
I tried writing a parser extension function which
constructs a table using wikitext, like this:
{|
| Country||Population
|-
| ||
...
|-
|}
The code looks like this:
$wgExtensionFunctions[] = "wfXdataExtension";
function wfXdataExtension()
{
global $wgParser;
$wgParser->setHook( "data", "drawTable" );
}
function drawTable( $input, $argv, &$parser )
{
// for now, ignore the text in between the tags.
// let's use a user-assigned value for $input.
$input = array( ... );
$output = buildWikiTable($input);
return $output;
}
I was EXPECTING this:
Sample article:
Country Population
Germany 50,000,000
...
But I got this instead:
{| | Country||Population |- | || ... |- |}
It seems that the Wiki treated the above AS IS, and
did not interpret it as special WikiText that needs to
be converted to (X)HTML.
My question is: How do I force the Wiki to evaluate
the WikiText returned by my parser extension function?
Many thanks!
Filip

Article histories would be nice, but not a deal-breaker if they couldn't
come over.
if it helps, what I mean by merged is that I have two separate media
wiki installations: one for a particular department and one for the
organization in general. I'd like the bring the dept. wiki into the org
wiki so that it aligns with the other depts' wikispace.

I am in the process of trying to wrangle our local Intranet wiki
projects into a single installation that hopefully can be completely

how best to accomplish this through Google or the list archives. Any
advice, pointers, or otherwise would be much appreciated.

Hi all!
Now, I'm thinking of another custom tag, called ALTVIEW or ALTERNATIVE VIEWER. The idea is that data (text) in between this tag will be displayed using a user-specified viewer such as an applet or an entire application.
Is there a way to embed a custom tag within a custom tag in Wiki text? It's something like this:
=== Wiki Editor =========================================
Article: Country:United States
The past 43 presidents of the United States are: <altview viewer=htmlEnum> <xdata source=US_Presidents></xdata> </altview>
=====================================================
NOTE: htmlEnum is a custom PHP function that accepts an array of strings, concatenates all array entries into one long string, separating each entry by a comma.
And the output should be:
=== Wiki View ==========================================
The past 43 presidents of the United States are: George Washington, ..., Bill Clinton, and Al Gore.
=====================================================
UNFORTUNATELY.... this is the output:
=== Wiki View ==========================================
The past 43 presidents of the United States are: <altview viewer=htmlEnum> Array </altview>.
=====================================================
For some reason, the array( "George Washington", ..., "Al Gore" ) is not being passed to the AltView extension function.
Any ideas on how to make this work?
I'm working on a Biology-related Wiki, and one of the things I want to do is this (second example):
=== Wiki Editor ===========================================
Article: Protein:P52
The P52 protein has the following structure: <altview viewer=deepView> <xdata source=P52_Sequence></xdata> </altview>
More text here... blah... blah...
========================================================
And the output could be:
=== Wiki View =============================================
The P52 protein has the following structure:
===== deepView Version 2.0 (TM) ==========
| |
| 00000----0000----| |
| | |
| |---/\/\/\/\/\/ |
| |
| (some 3-D protein diagram) |
| |
| |
===================================
More text here... blah... blah...
=====================================================

Filip

server has been down, etc etc)
Howdy. I've removed the image in the upper left corner (that has the
logo and links to the main page). Removing the image, however, still
leaves behind an invisible box which still links to the main page.
This 'box' gets in the way of clicking on any other links that may be
within the ~200x200 box.
I have a feeling this box is defined in one of the style sheets but
Ill be damned if I know where. Can anyone point me to the right
location?
Thanks,
Andrew

There's a protect link available in articles. Clicking on that link
lists only "block unregistered users" and "Sysops". Why the other
mediawiki user groups are not listed there?

I am trying to get my redirect working so I have the short URLs and not the
long ones with the index.php?= included.
I'm trying to use the mod_rewrite but I'm having problems when I create a
subdomain.
I want to use wiki.utahdogs.com as the main URL for the wiki. When I create
the subdomain on my host (shared), it messes up my main domain url.
The wiki address works like this:
http://www.utahdogs.com/wiki/
When I use the directory as a subdir in the URL. But if you put in
wiki.utahdogs.com, I get a mess. (it keeps repeating /wiki/wiki/wiki/...
after the domain.)
My rewrite rules in my .htaccess are as follows:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^wiki/(.*) wiki/index.php?title=$1 [PT,L,QSA]
If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. I'm going to
leave the site broken for a little bit until I can get some help with this.
The main domain is www.utahdogs.com
And if you look at that page, images and css are not showing up. Because the
url to the host itself, http://box83.bluehost.com/~utahdogs/, seems to
pointing to the wiki subdirectory... I am not sure why. This only happens
when I have wiki created as a subdomain.
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
my Wiki contains some categories with more than 200 entries.
Registered/logged-on users do not have any problems seeing all entries of a
categorie (special categories, stepping through them with 'next 200').
But users, who are not logged-on, are not able to step through the entries
of a category.
Any idea why?
Thanks in advance, zaydo
