In our wiki use, being able to conduct a full search of *all* history might prove quite useful, even if conducting such a search would take some time. Is there any way to implement this in a current or future MW release?

Hi,
Just a small problem. I'm trying to create a script that'll export the wiki
pages (sth similar to Special:Export), there is one problem because of the
images. When using Special:Export we get a content with a
[[Image:imagefile.imageextension]]
I'd like to have a link to an image located on my host instead. All images
are stored in the images directory within wiki. Below are some
subdirectories: d, f, etc.
Is there any rule where is given image placed while being uploaded?

Hi guys,
I previously posted this message on
gmane.science.linguistics.wikipedia.technical so I am sorry if you are
reading this post for the second time. I hope someone on this mailinglist
can help me.
The idea is an user can upload a *.bpmn file to a wike. The Business Process
Modelling Notation is a notation to model business processes. At the end of
the post I have included links to some examples and the XML-specification of
the BPMN.
After the post an extension converts the file automatically to a
(thumbnail )image format which can be displayed on the page, you can do for
example the same with images (ImageMagick;
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/command-line-tools.php). Every time
somebody uploads a new *.bpmn file, the new file should be shown as a
thumbnail.
So the idea a user can download a process from the Wiki, make some
adjustments in the process (with a local BPMN-editor) and upload the new
process to the wiki.
Is there an extension or application available which can take care of this.
Of course it would be even better to have an online BPMN-file editor but I
guess that's one bridge too far for now.
Thanks!

I upgraded from MW 1.6.3 to 1.9.2 and image maps no longer work. I was
using the version from Shannon McNaught (SM) (one of the examples on the
chekmate.org imagemap page is from my wiki - Shannon helped sort out
some problems with imagemap on my wiki). However, it no longer functions.
I looked at the Meta page on imagemaps and saw a link to a 1.9
compatible version of imagemap by Tim Starling (TS). This one "works",
however is not compatible with the old imagemap extension.
It is entirely possible these problems are something I am doing wrong,
however:
1 - SM version uses map files; TS version embeds map info inline. The
former is easier to maintain if the map is used in many locations - e.g.
multilingual wiki. Is there a syntax for TS that allows map files to be
used?
2 - SM version is case insensitive. TS version insists that keywords
(poly, rect etc) are lower case.
3 - SM version's map files are virtually identical to HTML map syntax
making HTML map tools easy to use to generate map files. TS version
doesn't seem to like comma-delimited vertices etc.
Before I spend a lot of time converting all the maps on my wiki to use
the TS extension, is there any possibility of finding a way to make the
two versions compatible? I prefer the low-maintenance aspects of SM's
version but need to fix imagemap real soon.

A quick development question.
If an AJAX-enabled, or "next-gen" MediaWiki were to be built, would it be
acceptable for it to have been made in a format such as .aspx (i.e. built
using Microsoft Visual Web Developer)? I was wondering if this might have
some kind of clash with GFDL/Copyleft principles, or accessibility or
compatibility. Would web pages in the .aspx format be acceptable as the
output of the software that Wikipedia runs on?
Thanks.
Hello,
I have mediawiki 1.9.0 with Windows Server 2003 R2/MySql 5.0.
When I login with user id it says it successfully logged in. and if I
navigate to a another page, it says user not logged in. Is there any
setting I am missing with this. I have another instance of Wiki on a
different server configuration is 1.8.2 with Windows Server 2003. And
it works fine.
Let me know. Thank you in advance for your help.

Ramki
Is there a way in WikiText to make a link to the section edit for the
spot where the markup is in a page?
I want to have a template that puts a box in the page that says "This
section needs editing" and have the box link to the Section Edit.
Yes, I know that the edit link is right there, but in long sections
it might be nice to have it in the box.
