I want to write a special page that accepts several parameters, and can also be included in other pages.
normally, to include, one will write '{{:Special:MySpecialPage/param1/param2}}' and my code will use '/' as parameters separator.
however, what if param1 is a path to a subpage? then, it contains '/'.
and why use '/' for parameters anyway? why not the normal template syntax of '{{:Special:MySpecialPage|param1|param2}}'?
i changed my code to handle this: in Parser.php, find the call of capturePath and add a second argument: 'self::createAssocArgs($args)' add it to the function declaration and also SpecialPage::executePath and SpecialPage::execute. this will allow a mix of both forms ('/' or '|' as separators)
what do you think?

Hello:
We are running MediaWiki v.1.8.2, PHP v. 1.5.1, MySQL 4.1.15.
We enabled memcache several days ago and since I've been getting
complaints that page load time is slow and searches are slow. Also
I've noticed that custom templates are loading weird.
Any thoughts?

We are developing a wiki for social services documentation, and I'm
hoping to use subpages as this will in effect have pages with the same
name:-
children with disabilities/forms
child protection/forms
etc.
The only comment we have had is that people don't like the page title
being the full form as you know the parent pages anyway as they are
listed in the breadcrumbs.
I tried adding the following function to monobook.php, which will change
the displayed title to just be the bit after the last /
function chop_title($show) {
if(strrpos($show,'/')) { $show = substr(strrchr($show,'/'),1);};
return($show);
}
and changed the line
<h1 class="firstHeading"><?php $this->text('title') ?></h1>
to
<h1 class="firstHeading"><?php chop_title($this->text('title')) ?></h1>
I've tested the the function outside the monobook.php and it works a
expected but id doesn't work in situ (has no effect on the displayed title)
Any comments ?

I just installed v. 1.9 on Monday. To upgrade from 1.9 to 1.9.1, is
it as simple as replacing the includes and other files or do I still
need to run the update.php script again?
Thanks,
Chris

I tried all the suggestions in the extension FAQ before I emailed the list.
If I use the suggestion for version 1.6, i.e.:
$wgCachePages = false;
$wgCacheEpoch = 'date +%Y%m%d%H%M%S';
It still doesn't work and often it displays the output of my inline PHP to
the top left corner of the browser, screwing up the default skin. If I
further use the other suggestion for 1.6, i.e.:$parser->disableCache(); I
get a blank page. The "DisableCache hack" that is linked to from
MediaWiki_extensions_FAQ has no effect either.
Is this still a problem in version later than 1.7? Should I just upgrade to
the latest version?

We've got a page of ridiculous length made up of zillions of top-level
(I think h2-level, really, "==" headings) with internal links using the
[[#name]] syntax.
Does anyone know of a tool for converting such a page into many pages,
breaking on the top-level headers, and preserving the links? It seems
like a fairly straightforward perl program, but it would be even better
if it could be done by someone *else's* code.
Once you managed to convert the one file into many, how can they be
loaded into mediawiki?

Hi,
I want to write a template that has '<nowiki>{{{1}}}</nowiki>'. that is, the first argument will be rendered without parsing for wiki text. However, when i try this, {{{1}}} isn't parsed, so I get the literal '{{{1}}}' string. How do I achieve what I want?
Thanx,
Ittay

I want to automatically have a template used for a specific namespace so
that when the edit page is generated for the first time, it already has some
text in it: {{Template| | | | }}. What is the best way to do this?
I also want to customize what a blank page looks like for a specific
namespace to allow the user to choose from a list of categories to put the
page in, which will then automatically be put in the edit page. How should
I go about this?
Thanks!
