Three questions for folks:
1) Is there a way to auto-number rows in a table similar to the numbered
list syntax (i.e. #)?
2) How do I edit the welcome/password reminder e-mail that MediaWiki
generates?
3) How can I create user accounts for multiple users?

A user of a wiki that I manage reported that during a half hour period, she
found herself logged out and had to log in again. She did not view the
logout screen - she just realized that she could no longer edit and realized
that she wasn't logged in. She has not had this problem before, and the
problem appears to have gone away now. She connects via wireless in her
office.
Does anyone have any idea of what might have caused this? Could she have
been having dropped connections on her wireless? Is the IP address stored in
the token or session cookies?
Any information to help me understand this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi All!
I would to set up a system where each page has an owner. This owner can then
assign access rights to the page. In the first phase, all I really want is
that the owner can specify who can edit the page. In fact, for the start, it
could be as simply as an on-off switch where editing it allowed or not.
The first thing that comes to mind is a new data table (I am not happy with
the idea of editing existing tables). The table could have fields like this:
ownerID:pageID:edit_on
Where ownerID is the userID of the owner and edit_on is either 0 or 1.
Expanding this idea, I could have:
ownerID:pageID:AuthorID:privileges
Where AuthorID is another UserID and privileges is simply a bitmap (a la UNIX
chmod) which indicates what the AuthorCan do to the page (read, edit,
delete?).
I would prefer not to reinvent the wheel. So, if a mechanism exists aleady
that is even close to that functionality, I would really appreaciate a shove
in the right direction.

jimmo

Can someone please help on this issue?
When i try to upload it says: "The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might be due to a typo in the file name. Please check whether you really want to upload this file."
The file filed I tried to upload is a jpg file and it is only 2k.

I have a wiki Template called Template:BigDoc with something like the
following:
This is the top of the document.
Field Value A: (fill in a value)
Field Value B: (fill in a value)
This is the bottom line of the document.
I would like to create a document based on Template:BigDoc multiple times
a day. This is how I currently do that:
1. Create a new document.
2. Enter the following into the document:
* {{subst:BigDoc}}
3. Save that document.
4. Re-edit that document
5. I then see my template text, which I edit.
It would be nice if I could eliminate a couple of these steps when
creating a document based on a template. Ideally, I would even like to be
able to start editing a document based on a template using one click.
Does anyone know if this is possible with MediaWiki?
Thanks in advance!

There is still problem with our wiki:
When a category is part of a new article, the category link doesn't show up,
when this article is edited, the link works.
Is there any obvious solution to this problem.
Does anyone know at which point the Category linking code is called?
Thanks
Hi,
www.metacafe.com <http://www.metacafe.com/> is a web 2.0 service, offering
a host and distribution of videos, images and media files.
The Metacafe's database includes thousands of user-generated media files,
with a title and descriptions for each one. We think the Wiki based platform
is the best in order to let users edit and update these texts.
Nowadays, all texts are English, but using Wiki can be an easy method to
allow user-generated-translation of these texts, so that foreign language
speaker could use Metacafe's collection as well.
If anyone could help me understand the procedure of the integration with
MediaWiki, I would be grateful.
Thanks,
Roy Rozenman
