Hi,
does sb. know how to remove an old entry from the
gmane.org.wikimedia.mediawiki list ? I don't want my name to be published
there. Because when my name is googled, everyone can read everything about
me.
Plz. dont reply that I had to know this before I subscribed, that does not
anzwer my question.
Thanks in advance
I want to transclude the contents of a special page into a regular
article. For example, the contents of Special:Version into the About
page. I've attempted doing so by including {{Special:Version}}
within the page, but this doesn't seem to work.
Is this even possible somehow?

I have 3 problems which may be handled by one template i don't know yet:
1. I don't want that certain template (if it is handeled by one) to show up
the alphabet letters when sorting the subcategories. I'd prefer them listen
in continious rows like on Special:Allpages.
2. Special:Allpages: my pages have all very long names and i want Allpages
to be listed in 2 columns only.
3. I want to get rid of the Articles message in certain categories some of
them only include subcategories and will never include article pages.
"Articles in category "Artist"
There are 0 articles in this category."
That may be solved by using top-level categories, but i couldn't find info
on how to create such.
thanks for any help :)

when i search or try to add an article with the inputbox that includes
Umlauts such as ä, ö, ü i get a blank page as result.
when i use code %C3%A instead of ä e.g. in "Sven Väth" as "Sven V%C3%A4th" i
get:
Bad title
The requested page title was invalid, empty, or an incorrectly linked
inter-language or inter-wiki title. It may contain one more characters which
cannot be used in titles.
How can i fix that?
I hope there is an easy fix for it so i can use the umlauts right in the box
when searching or creating. :)
cheers

I have the NewUserNotif, Newuserlog, ParserFunctions, and InputBox
extensions installed. Was fine a minute ago. I simply re-uploaded
newuserlog.php and the i81n file.

I published the RandomInclude extension. It can include random texts
on a page. It allows the random text list to be kept in a template,
where all alternatives can be viewed.

Hello All,
I have mediawiki installed with Hebrew interface, i.e. right to left direction in editor.
Some of our wiki users asked me a question:
How to make a single page in English with that "Hebrew style wiki" installation?
Is there some rtl/ltr tag or command?
How can I achieve that?
Best Regards,
Leon Kolchinsky
I've been able to enable uploading of files and set the $wgFileExtensions[]
line in LocalSettings.php to enable me to upload pdf files.
My problem is how to set this to enable different types of files to be
uploaded e.g. pdf's and word docs and Powerpoint etc.
Does anyone know the correct syntax for specifying multiple file extensions
for files that can be uploaded.
Thank
Chris

Hello all,
I recently installed a Google sitemap extension onto my MediaWiki install. It was advertised to add all the sites in my page to an XML file (sitemap.xml). However, upon submitting this sitemap file to Google, I receive the following error from Google.
Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit.
Does anyone know why this is happening.
Thanks!
