Hi!
I recently updatet MediaWiki from 1.3.9 to 1.4.4. I copied all old
tables via phpAdmin ("copy structures and data") and installed the new
wiki normally using the new tables. The wiki works, but when I edit a
page, Firefox (1.0.4) always shows outdated pages. Even after reloading
the page. Only clearing the chache or restarting Firefox helps.
Sometimes also the skin changes to a plain version. With Opera (7.54)
everything works fine.
LocalSettings.php:
$wgScriptPath = "";
$wgScript = "$wgScriptPath/index.php";
$wgRedirectScript = "$wgScriptPath/redirect.php";
What's wrong?
greetings

Pablo,
I'm doing this against our MySQL and MS SQL servers via custom php
extensions. It works well & is easily incorporated within the MediaWiki
interface so none of my users is the wiser.
Regarding your specific request - the comment at the top of the
specialasksql.php code suggests that it would only work for queries against
the cur table.
" * If enabled through $wgAllowSysopQueries = true, this class
* let users with sysop right the possibility to make sql queries
* against the cur table.
* Heavy queries could slow down the database specially for the
* biggest wikis."
Al.

Subject: [Mediawiki-l] direct SQL Queries example
Could somebody please give me some details of how to do a direct SQL query?
I mean, can I use Media Wiki as a frontend for my MySQL databases?
That would be great! My wiki is on my intranet and for me a read only
access is ok. If not, how could it be managed?
thanks,
Pablo Chamorro C.

Is there posiblity to allow editing all pages (whole wiki) only by
registered users?
PS. Sorry for my bad english...

I haven't been following the thread, but I can see many situations where
mediaWiki is useful for a few editors (even just one), because it is so
easy to use as an editor. I even use it for situations where I'm the only
viewer. (complex notes that I can access from any computer.)

Thumbnail with caption text underneath that has one or more links
This option does not seem to work correctly on my page and works inconsistently on Wiki page. Specifically, the image alt text does not display what is written as caption.
a.. My page - Incorrect alt text, correct caption:
a..
b.. Alt text: The Gardners' all gathered for
c.. Caption: The Gardners' all gathered for Thanksgiving 2004
b.. Wiki - Correct hover, correct caption:
a.. Tst.png (New syntax for images - definition of "thumbnail, thumb")
b..
c.. Alt text: This is a globe, and take a look at it in the actual size
d.. Caption: This is a globe, and take a look at it in the actual size
c.. Wiki - Incorrect hover, correct caption:
a.. Westminstpalace.jpg (Thumbnail with caption...)
b..
c.. Alt text: This is the in London
d.. Caption: This is the Palace of Westminster in London
By the way, it might immediately appear as though the file extension (.jpg or .png) might be to blame, but I just added Family.png and it still does not work. I also removed the caption from my code and left just the basic link, the alt text is still incorrect.
Suggestions?
Thanks.

so I found this:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=mediawiki-l&m=111017538816998&w=2
(sorry, took me a while to find a sane searching
archive...... might think about posting the MARC link
as opposed to those useless pipermail archives)
I do have mysql 4.1.7 and php 5.0.2
upgrading to php 5.0.4 fixed it.
sorry for the noise, should have looked harder first.

Yahoo! Mail
Stay connected, organized, and protected. Take the tour:
http://tour.mail.yahoo.com/mailtour.html
Would it be difficult to arrange matters so that the Whatlinkshere page
showed indirect links through a transcluded template in similar fashion to
those through a REDIRECT page?
The next question would be whether it might be possible to add a twist-down
button like on "enhanced recent changes" so that these "sub-trees" could be
hidden, which is obviously doable, but since the equivalent suggestion for
TOCs has been sitting in the queue for lo-so-many-yonks I wouldn't want to
be holding my breath for it.

Hi
I'm having trouble installing media wiki. If I was to
guess, I think it has to do with it not being
compatible with the longer hashes used in new mysql
authentication
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/password-hashing.html
Here is my info:
PHP 5.0.2: ok
PHP server API is apache2handler; ok, using pretty
URLs (index.php/Page_Title)
Have XML / Latin1-UTF-8 conversion support.
PHP is configured with no memory_limit.
Have zlib support; enabling output compression.
Turck MMCache not installed, can't use object caching
functions
Couldn't find GD library or ImageMagick; image
thumbnailing disabled.
Installation directory: E:\www\htdocs\wiki
Script URI path: /wiki
Warning: $wgSecretKey key is insecure, generated with
mt_rand(). Consider changing it manually.
MySQL error 1251: Client does not support
authentication protocol requested by server; consider
upgrading MySQL client
and then further down the page it says could not
connect to database.
it's on win2000, but that might be irrelevant. Since
this release (stable 1.4.4) was downloaded today, I
would think it would include the support. I'm not
sure what else the problem could be.
here is a portion (edited for privacy and length)
mysql> select * from user;
+-----------+------+-------------------------------------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| Host | User | Password
| Select_priv | Insert_priv | Update_priv |
Delete_priv | Create_priv |
+-----------+------+-------------------------------------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| localhost | root | *6MYLONGHASHVALUEISHERE | Y
| Y | Y | Y | Y
|
+-----------+------+-------------------------------------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+-------------+
sorry if I've missed something simple.
any help appreciated.
thanks
b
