I'm looking for a way to customize the front page in the following ways:
- replace contents of the navigation bit on the left
- change/remove background image
- change image in the upper left corner to one that stretches across
the whole page
Any hints, links and/or tutorials appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
This may be heresy but ....
I have a small wiki (about natural building processes) and I would like
to run targeted ads on it from Google Adwords. Is there an easy way to
do this?

Hello,I modified index.php to go directly to action edit instead of action view.
When I am in editpage and press button with action=edit, I understand
that in some way it goes back to index.php, and goes again to the
switch-case: as in case edit you make a new editpage, that's because a
global var doesn't "remember" values, as they're different editpages
(as you answered me previously in the list).
But, would be possible to do those changes in index.php? The idea is
to have a configmyproject.txt filled with an id for users (not the
username, as I don't want to make register boligatory to edit),
generated with time() and four random numbers. Then, when other person
entrers in the web, it should read the file, and seeing their id
isn't, continue as a new instance. If it is the person that was
already entered, it should read their id (entered when first submit in
edit), and continue processing to edit2 (yes, I have made
editpage.php, and editpage2 and editpage3 too, that's because i need
some config to save in what screen the user is).
Well... a variable that I recall his value at beginning of index.php
(global $myid) should not be "remembered"? The new instance of edit
isn't created yet...but I tried and it doesn't remember it...
Sorry if maybe sounds a bit confusing...thanks in advance

I am running mediawiki version 1.4 for a scout wiki (gondi-online.de)
The system runs very well.
Last week I changed something in the database (I don't no what) and no I
get the old style in properties and for example in the editing page of
articles.
What have I done wrong?
Any ideas?
thanks a lot for your help

My company wants to use MediaWiki for internal documentation. They
would like to separate how projects are physically stored in the
MediaWiki structure.
For example instead of all files being listed under the root
structure, can I create a new project folder for each project and have
files be placed in their respective projects?
Is this possible?
Thanks
Chris McIntosh
sorry, if this is somewhere in the manual and I'm too blind to find, if
this is not the right place to ask (where else?) or my english is too
bad...
I'm a fan of mediawiki software and would like to install it in our
corporate's intranet for all the "knowhows". To keep the inhibition
threshold for editing as low as possible, I would prefer the "anything
goes"-version for user rights with no registration necessary. On the
other hand it might be desirable to identify an author for further
questions about his knowledge.
At present for a non-logged-in-user the local IP-number of the intranet
is shown to "identify" the author, but this dosn't really help, because
it's choosen accidentally from the DHCP-Server. Is there any way to
automatically adopt the login-name of the user for the corporate's
network as identifikation for the wiki-user?
(Learned Algol, Fortran and VBA, maybe successful doing something in PHP
;-)
Any help will be grateful appreciated!

Hello,
I'm running an older wiki using MediaWiki 1.1.
I've uploaded a media file with a lower case name,
e.g., "myfile". But when viewing the image page, the
file name is capitalized to "Myfile". Is there anyway
to preserve the case of the uploaded file?
I am expecting readers to click on a media link
[[Media:...]] to save the file locally, and I'd really
like to preserve the lower case filename when do so.
Thanks very much!
