Hi,
I'm trying to install mediawiki-1.4rc1 on fedora3 with Apache/2.0.53, PHP/4.3.8
and mysql 4.1.9.
Installation freeze at ...
MediaWiki 1.4rc1 installation
Please include all of the lines below when reporting installation problems.
Checking environment...
* PHP 4.3.8: ok
* PHP server API is apache2handler; ok, using pretty URLs
(index.php/Page_Title)
* Have XML / Latin1-UTF-8 conversion support.
* PHP's memory_limit is 8M. If this is too low, installation may fail!
Attempting to raise limit to 20M... ok.
* Have zlib support; enabling output compression.
* Turck MMCache not installed, can't use object caching functions
* Found ImageMagick: /usr/bin/convert; image thumbnailing will be enabled if
you enable uploads.
* Found GD graphics library built-in.
* Installation directory: /home/wwwroot/Directory/wiki2
* Script URI path: /wiki2
I also notice that exactly at this point, Apache generates Segfault in
error_log.
$ tail -f /var/log/httpd/error_log
[Tue Feb 22 12:41:38 2005] [notice] child pid 9802 exit signal Segmentation
fault (11)
I'm also running phpbb, phpnuke, phpmyadmin and other php apps on same server
without any problems.
I also test installation with Apache/2.0.52 and got same error.
any help would be appreciated
Regards bruma

Somebody was asking on IRC earlier about what parsers there are for
MediaWiki's brand of wikitext, other than the bits of the MediaWiki
code that do it (which I suggested would be pretty painful to seperate
from the rest of it).
As I thought about it, and looked around, I realised that there were
actually quite a few of these about, mostly in unfinished states, but
generally usable for simple tasks and/or as the basis for somebody
else's attempt. So, as an attempt to minimise duplication of effort, I
thought I'd make a list of what was out there.
This is therefore both an announcement that I've started the list, and
an invitation for anyone who knows of something I've missed/got wrong
to add it in/correct it. I hope this proves useful for someone
someday.
The list is at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Alternative_parsers

I have made some changes to the template xhtml_slim.pt and am having
trouble seeing those changes on the website. I have cleared my browser
cache and reloaded the page but I still have the old template coming
through. Please let me know if I need to do something different to make
the changes work. Thanks

Hi
I'm running a MediaWiki site on my local Mac OS X (10.3 client)
webserver - http://knowyourmac.com (also accessible at
http://knowyourmac.homeip.net).
The problem is, unless you specify a page name, such as "Main_Page" or
"Introduction" in the address, the address resolves into a local name,
which won't load externally.
http://knowyourmac.homeip.net/~emilymatt/kym/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
<-- will work
http://knowyourmac.homeip.net/~emilymatt/kym/wiki/index.php/
Introduction <-- will work
http://knowyourmac.homeip.net/~emilymatt/kym/wiki <-- won't work
(Before you ask, I have automatic recognition of index.php set up in my
httpd.conf file.)
This is the case whether you use the homeip.net address above, or my
current (dynamic) IP of 24.193.152.184, so it's not something that's
happening at dyndns.org.
This means that, at my domain registrar, I have to set the domain
forwarding from knowyourmac.com to a full ".../Main_Page" address to
get it to work. And this doesn't give me the option of specifying an
alternate page, such as http://knowyourmac.com/Introduction (which
would now resolve to an erroneous "../Main_Page/Introduction").
I've tested other PHP scripts in the same directory as MediaWiki's
"index.php", and they don't do this forwarding to the local name - can
anyone give me clues on what's going on, and how I can resolve it?
Many thanks
Matt
Hi all!
Why does my Wiki do the following?
I have a page called Linux:Quickies, and somewhere in this page is the string
"iptraf". But when I search for iptraf using the wiki search, nothing is
found!
Other strings on this page are found very well, even shorter strings like
"lib" (I set indexing to 3 letters search in my my.conf).
Any explanations?

Hello there,
Could I make mediawiki private? That is:
* Could I set, only registered-user may read and edit the pages? And maybe, membership must be approved by webmaster or sysop.
* Could mediawiki be set so only local connection may connect to mediawiki, (i.e., http://127.0.0.1/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page )
* or any other methods to make the page more secure and private.
Thank you...
I have put up a small wiki using 1.3.10 on a RH9 machine
(Apache 2.0.40, PHP 4.2.2-17.2 mysql-3.23.58-1.9). I am
unable to implement image uploading. I have followed
all the instructions I can find. Some browsers (Safari)
report that they cannot connect to the server. Most
other browsers report that the upload file/document has
no data. Help would be greatly appreciated.
John
