Morning!
I am building a web site for a family member who is in the process
of completing a PhD and MediaWiki looks like the ideal CMS to use
as they will be able to update their own web site (delegation is
always important :-)
Two questions:
1) There may be a need to have certain pages in multiple languages.
Is the best way to do this for a small site is to add a language
identifier to the page title eg:
here is the CV in [[CV.en|English]] or in [[CV.nl|Dutch]].
Is there a way to do this and still have a more readable title eg
"English CV" rathern than "CV.en"?
2) I see from the LocalSettings.php that it is possible to prevent
access to certain pages for users who are not logged in. Do I
need to list all the pages I want blocked or is it possible
to do wildcards eg internal*
TIA
James
I've read this page:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Documentation:Security
but I'd like to know how to require editors to log in first, and how to
disable account creation.
Also, I'm not sure how to disable running PHP scripts in any directories
except the script directories. Can I just copy this ato the end of my
httpd.conf file and then reboot the server:
<Location "/wiki/images">
php_admin_flag engine off
AddType text/plain .html .htm .shtml
</Location>
All related comments on how to secure a wiki are welcome.
TIA
I notice the html <meta keyword=""> tags of my wiki pages are populated
with not only my page titles, but also the title of any linked wiki
pages, images and templates. But I checked wikipedia.org, only the page
title is used in the <meta keyword="">.
1. Where is it configured?
2. Having the linked pages aded to the meta tag is ok, I think. But
adding the template and image titles to it is not right. Is it possible
to just exclude templates and images?
Thanks

Hello all,
I've made a little clumsy extension to help aggregating quotes: so that
a quote appears in all the pages it links to.
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Fxparlant/Blog
Please do use of the discussion page to comment and help me correct it :-)
To see a first version of its use :

Scroll down after the dates list, and you'll see an aggregation of
notes, with links for pages and comments (some of these pages are
themself aggregations)

List:
I would like to restrict the Special Pages ( such as
/index.php/Special:Recentchanges) to only to logged in users.
Any suggestions on implementing this ?
Thanks in Advance :-)

There is a private project for sysop-registered members only. I'd like to allow Google to index the pages without caching them. How to do that?
Thanks,
P.
How to do this? The return message is:
Error: could not submit form
Invalid IP address
Well, neither do I know the changing IPs of the User, nor would I want to ban the IP which might be shared by other users. The only way I see is to delete the user registration from DB.

Hello,
Updated several wikies to rc1, and got everywhere one and the same problem. Default text and Current text of Special:Allmessages is after the update identical. AND when you click the link under the Name, the WikiMedia page shows the old value, before the update. My question is: How to make the old values replace the Current text and continue serving as my actual system messages.
Thank you,
Plamen
