In remember of the juni- discussion - the problem is also in 1.3.0.:
The installation script is hanging in config - index. There are no reporting
from any error. The installation is breaking after 20 s.
I have not MYSQLrootrights on this server.
I have load from CVS any versions of config. There are a version with a big
describtion in the last time. I can´t say the number of the version,
CVS-browse is down in this time. This works to begin the install!
Whats to do for dummies??

Dieter
an sorry for the english.. :-(
I find templates very convenient. Unfortunately, they are so
convenient that I want more than five on a given page.
Q: is there a setting I can adjust, so I can use more than 5 templates
on a wiki page?
PS. I'd also be interested to know whether templates scale well. This
is because I'd like to use a template about 50 to 100 times in a page,
and if that would cause a terrible performance hit, I'd like to know
that. (The site does not get a lot of usage, and it won't ever get
much ... the page in consideration is a little corner of the site where
I put links to powerpoint files I store on another site, for the
courses I teach.)

1.3.2 fixes since 1.3.1:
* Fix namespaced page creation links when no go match
* When cookies are disabled, don't show login screen twice
* Install should no longer die when PHP is pre-configured to compress
output
* Fixed bug that caused long Japanese pages to time out with Tidy active
* When session.handler is set incorrectly, try automatic override
to 'files'
* Watch/Unwatch links back to the affected page instead of Main Page
* Upload link no longer displayed on Monobook if uploading is disabled
* Special:Allmessages faster, shows correct original text, works in
safe mode
Anyone still running the 1.3 beta releases is _strongly_ recommended to
upgrade to the current code due to numerous fixed bugs and a security
vulnerability in the betas with some PHP configurations.
Note that while MediaWiki through 1.1 required register_globals to be
on, 1.2 and 1.3 *do not*. If you have register_globals on, you should
turn it off unless you are absolutely sure you require it for some other
package. See http://php.net/register_globals for general information.

Perhaps such a link could be made for the MediaWiki page at sourceforge
too?
As I have understood, it formerly ran on MediaWiki but was replaced
with static page after a lot of vandalism that was not reverted because
not enough people were keeping an eye on it. This would perhaps not be
a problem if the pages resided on Meta-Wikimedia?

Hello,
I tried to install MediaWiki at my webserver (normal webhosting), than it
hangs during the installation process..
Output:
Checking environment...
PHP 4.3.8: ok
PHP server API is cgi; using ugly URLs (index.php?title=Page_Title)
Have XML / Latin1-UTF-8 conversion support.
PHP's memory_limit is 30M. If this is too low, installation may fail!
Have zlib support; enabling output compression.
Found GD graphics library built-in, image thumbnailing will be enabled if you
enable uploads.
Installation directory: /homepages/21/d11819252/htdocs/sub/wildpflanzen
Script URI path: /sub/wildpflanzen
I checked config/index.php with the method previously mentioned on this List
(the die statement) an find out that all looks fine till line 392:
switch( $err ) {
case 1045:
if( $conf->Root ) {
$errs["RootPW"] = "Check password";
... and so on.
Any suggestions?
(I do activate error-logging too, but no error was logged...)
Greetings,
Mela
Hello,
I've searched everywhere, but i didn't find any pointers on how to add
skins and how to remove them. It seems that the skinning faqs are
crushed in between 1.26 and 1.3.1.
Does anybody know an url? Or can anybody tell me which files to edit to
remove the old skins from the preferences and where to add new ones?
Thanks!
