Hello
Points well taken on the openness of wiki... (wanted
to prevent spammers from messing up the pages)
Few more questions then.
So the SkinPHPTal page controls the main output?
For example, if I wanted to insert a picture
underneath the navigation menu, or above the top
menubar ("article" "edit" "discuss")... where should i
be placing my <img> and other info.
If I wanted to add my site's default footer toolbar,
where would I insert those?
Also,
A random problem.
ON my Wiki, I set my $wgSitename = "MysiteName" in my
localsettings.php file.
However (I have imported the Wictionary cur tables for
testing) and on the Title of each page it says "Main
Page - Wictionary" instead of "Main Page - MysiteName"
Any ideas on that?
Thanks
Jimmy

Hi. Is there a way to turn off the mediawiki interpretation of various
control-key sequences?
I ask because I am a lifelong Emacs user, and because my Mac OSX system
is set up to obey many emacs navigation commands. So, when I'm
entering content, I am very likely to type
control-E to go to the start of a line
control-P to go up one line
and, of course, this leads to all sorts of confusion while editing wiki
content.
Is there a flag I can set, to prevent the mediawiki site from
interpreting these control-key sequences?

I'd like to store an additional item of data ("grade") for each user,
and set things up so only administrators can change the item, and admins
can view a table showing every user's grade.
What do you think the easiest way of going about this is? I have written
sites using PHP and MySQL before, but have never tinkered with MediaWiki!
Many thanks for your help
Nick
Hello,
Just upgraded to 1.3 b4 Mediawiki,
And still was looking for a place (if there is one) or
some help on how to customize the menus. I found the
.css files that I can control the look, but how do I
customize which menus appear?
For example, if I wanted to remove the "discussion"
option, can I do that?
Or if I wanted to integrate my own site's menu options
into the left sided menu?
Or remove the "Toolbox" on the left hand side?
Where can I make changes (or find documentation for
this)
And also, can I make pages editable ONLY by registered
users? Or protect all pages from editing?
Thank you
Jimmy

I've installed the latest snapshot of 1.30 beta 4. The installation
itself went through without a hit. However, upon tryting to actually
view the new wiki, I get the following error:
[pear_error: message="failed to open stream: Permission denied" code=0
mode=return level=notice prefix="" info=""]
Does anyone know what might be causing this? Thank you.
