Hi All,
I'm trying to start an arabic wiki site (similar to the arabic Wikipedia)
but when I install Mediawiki (1.2.5) and switch to the arabic language
everything goes right-to-left but most of the messages (Link names, page
titles, ...) stay in english. I'm not that PHP expert so I couldn't debug
it.
LocalSettings.php contains the below two variables
$wgUseDatabaseMessages = false;
$wgLanguageCode = "ar";
It is an in-place installation.
Thanks in advance,
MO

There's an inconsistency in how PHP does its "magic quotes" mangling on the
upload data, which we had overlooked. It doesn't usually make a different on
Unix but Windows does silly things like using backslash for a directory
separator, which screws everything up when we remove the "extra"
backslashes.
A fix will be in 1.2.6; you can make the change manually in index.php:

Hello,
I just installed MediaWiki 1.2.5 on rh 9., with php 4.2.2 and apache
2.0.40. So far so good, except I can't upload files. When I try to upload a
file from a windows xp client using IE 6.0.28 I get a "The page cannot be
displayed" message. Doing the same thing with Mozilla 1.5 I get "The
document contains no data" alert. Same alert error using Mozilla from the
linux server, by the way.
I've given write permissions to images and php.ini seems to be configured
to allow uploads. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi
Can you tell me which file I should edit to
change the front page?
I want to replace the image with my own and
also change the leftside links etc etc.
Thanks very much,
Jonghwa
What is the status of a download of the images table?
I would like to run some queries, and the sql feature
is no longer available.
The current download page has stated for months that:
"Images and uploaded files
A collected archive of uploaded images is not yet
available..."
Also, could anyone please point out where I can locate
a create table statement for the image table in
sourceforge?
t.i.a.!

example, wampp2tmpphp3E2A.tmp the "\" are eliminated
the correct path would be "wampp2\tmp\php3....

Dear Sir,
I translated MediaWiki from Language.php file to my own Language
[Laotian], LanguageLo.php, in Unicode UTF-8, I tested it, and it's working.
I searched on international Language lists, there is still not Lao Language
there, and if there is nobody translated/converted Lao Language file yet,
Please inform me where I should submit this new Language file to.
Thank you.
D_KOTE.

The Mystery gets darker.
Now OurAnswer (the wiki) works fine... except that it
had forgot all the changes in the last 2 weeks. That
is about one week before the site went down.
www.ouranswer.org/wiki/index.php/Special:Recentchanges
There wasn't much done, but it is worrying. What has
happened? How can something like this happen? Can it
be a malicious attack? We had set up a respond to Bush
page which had gathered three comments. So the work of
four people was lost.
The pages that were created are also not stored in the
new pages:
www.ouranswer.org/wiki/index.php/Special:Newpages
Any idea on what could be the possible cause?
Pietro

Hi,
I installed MediaWiki 1.2.4 a few days ago, and it is very impressive, but
I have a question that I don't seem to be able to find the answer
to.
My Special:Wantedpages page is empty even though I know I have
broken links in some of my pages. I can see them in the brokenlinks
table. Is there something I should do to populate Wantedpages?
My wiki is new and will probably always be fairly small so I don't
think it will be a performance problem to enable Wantedpages.
Anyway, I'd like to know how, even if I don't use it!
I googled a bit and found references to a rebuildlinks.php script.
I tried running that (after taking a backup), but it says "Can't use
command-line utils with in-place install yet, sorry.", so I assume
that is not the correct thing to do.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Andy
