I have been tasked with upgrading a wiki from
mediawiki 1.11.0 to the latest version. I started with a VM running SLES 11 R2, Mysql Ver
14.12 Distrib 5.0.96, for suse-linux-gnu (x86_64) using EditLine wrapper and PHP 5.2.14.
There have been several issues related to images and the highly configured skin that was
designed. I have been able to work around some of these issues, but can't seem to get
it to work with anything beyond version 1.15.5. Even then there has been some sort of an
issue where I am unable to login to make page modifications. I then upgraded to PHP 5.3.8
and now I cannot access any .php pages. I am prompted to download the file.
Additionally, I have attempted to start fresh with version 1.19.3 and can't get past
the php file downloading issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The .php fie downloading issue sounds like a simple Apache
misconfiguration, where it doesn't know a PHP file is PHP so serves it
up as binary data. Does libphp5.so in SuSE come in a package, that
sets up Apache properly? (Debian/Ubuntu does this.)
When you solve that one, try doing the upgrade without the custom
skin, so you can see if it's at least upgradable. Then the custom skin
can be recreated in 1.19.
