Hello,
here a step-to-step-manual for updating:
1.Copy the code of new version (1.15.1) to the server
2.Copy the "old" LocalSettings.php to the new code
3.Rename AdminSettings.sample to AdminSettings.php (in the new version)
4.Open AdminSettings.php
5.Set $wgDBadminuser and $wgDBadminpassword (often same as the normal DB
user and password)
6.Go into a shell (e.g. SSH or PHPShell(see Google))
7.Run "php <wiki dir>/maintenance/update.php"

hosting?
Hi Jan, I have never run the maintenance/update.php script before. I
always reinstall.
I just shifted to GoDaddy and I think I hit a time out when I tried to
reinstall my websites using Mediawiki 1.15.1. But when I just link the
new Mediawiki to the database for 1.14.0, it seems to work fine until
I tried to edit. Then I get this error:
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in
the software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "IndexPager::reallyDoQuery (LogPager)". MySQL
returned error "1146: Table 'malaysiandumm.tag_summary' doesn't exist
(malaysiandumm.db.4707958.hostedresource.com)".

Hello,
how has you run the script? Has you run it under 1.14.0 or 1.15.1?

Hi, I have asked this question before and the answer seems like I can't.
The
alternative provided then was to reinstall Mediawiki.
I tried doing that
on
GoDaddy but apparently, I faced the time-out. Is there
any other method?
Actually, it runs find on 1.14.0 but I thought I might as well upgrade it
to
1.15.1. If everything fails, I will revert to 1.14.0
until such time when
I
am ready to go for VDS.
