- can custom namespaces be renamed? I guess one could do some daring things with an export XML file...
a) Change it in $wgExtraNamespaces
b) For compatibility, add an alias for the old name in $wgNamespaceAliases
c) run maintenance/namespaceDupes.php to ensure there are no namespace conflicts and to resolve them if present (with --fix param)
d) run maintenance/refreshLinks.php for completeness' sake if desired
