Hi Mike,
I found the information at the link a bit too much info for my needs - so I
googled around (having more of an idea of what I was looking for) and found
some instructions for windows. These instructions are below along with bits
that I have added for my particular setup - I am running WAMP on windows
(not that it should make too much difference?)
Run Services.msc
Select the wampmysqld service and then press Alt and Enter
Look at the details in 'Path to executable':
c:\wamp\mysql\bin\mysqld-nt.exe --defaults-file=c:\wamp\mysql\my.ini
wampmysqld
Open Windows Explorer and browse to c:\wamp\mysql\ and open my.ini
Add the following:
[mysqld]
ft_min_word_len = 3
The open your browser and goto
http://localhost to get to myphpadmin
Select the wiki database
Repair wikidb.searchindex
I did actually select all of my wiki tables to repair and they all gave me
the "The storage engine for the table doesn't support repair" message
expect
for the wikidb.searchindex table.
Hope that this helps.
Mike

The advice at the MySQL web site indicates that you have to repair
the FULLTEXT tables. For those of us that are not familiar with
the gory details of the Mediawiki database, which are the relevant
tables? I suspect that "xx_text" table is an obvious one, but should
the "xx_page" table be done too? Any others?
When I run REPAIR TABLE kw_text QUICK;, I get the result:
"The storage engine for the table doesn't support repair"
The info provided seems to suggest that it works for the ISAM tables -
what if I used INNO-DB?
Mike
