Is the a way to put into an article a list of all the categories on a wiki?
I also want this. Would it be possible to write a PHP script to do this? Looking at the categorylinks table:
Field Type Null Default cl_from int(8) No 0 cl_to varchar(255) No cl_sortkey varchar(255) No cl_timestamp timestamp(14) Yes NULL
something like a "SELECT DISTINCT cl_to FROM categorylinks" is this the best place to get this catList? there doesnt seem to be a standalone table of categories, just the list of to/from links.
So then wrap it up in a wiki extension, and later use anywhere as
<catList >showLinks=true; </catList>
the showLinks=true is just a parameter to make the links hot, so to return html like <A href=... ?title=Category:myCategory>myCategory</a>

before I start just wanted some advice as to whether this is a much more tricky can of worms than it looks...
Jean-Christian - guess you in tokyo too?
