Dear All,
Wikimedia India is happy to report its annual activities undertaken in the previous financial year 2018-19, beginning 1st April , 2018 until 31st March 2019. All activities undertaken have been self-financed by different Wikimedia India members either individually or collectively and not a single penny of community funds have been spent on conducting any programmatic activity. No Wikimedia Foundation Grants like Rapid Grant, Project Grant etc have been applied & by following with the real Wikimedia Culture, all Wikimedia India members in their individual capacity have taken to finance India Chapter Activities for Capacity Developments, Awareness, Partnerships, etc.
As you all are aware, Wikimedia India continues to undergo a financial crisis because it cannot receive any funding [1] from its primary donor Wikimedia Foundation(USA). However, Wikimedia India continues to do whatever it can, with its current constraints, to take the Wikimedia movement forward in India.
Wikimedia India looks forward to the community review on its activities hosted and more importantly on expectations from the larger community, and suggestions on how they want Wikimedia India to perform this financial year, holding that funding's may remain frozen.
*Key Points*
- Facilitated first-ever Library Partnership in India with Sameeksha Trust Journal, Economic & Political Weekly under The Wikipedia Library. - Partnered on several Wikimedia Global Programs in India such as WikiGap, Wiki Asian Month etc. - Continued hosting several Wikimedia India programs such as WikiAcademy, Wikimedia India Events, Featured Wikimedian of The Month. - Continued working along with CIS-A2K on different projects and most importantly on Project Tiger, a joint initiative between Wikimedia India and CIS-A2K. Hi Yohann,
Some parts of the reports are confusing to a general reader. I am not sure if all the activities mentioned under the "Events" section are organised by Wikimedia India, for example, "Project Tiger Writing Contest" Apart from the equipment support, I would like to know WMIN's involvement in the writing contest itself. Also in July-September 2018 report, 11th World Hindi Conference 2018, Re-creation of CC-India chapter, India Independence Day 2018 - Label-a-thon, are mentioned. It is confusing whether these events are conducted by WMIN, or CIS-A2K, or other volunteers. It would be great if you can make these clear by explicitly mentioning who organised them.
Thank You.

Dear Nivas,
Thank You for asking such questions.
Wikimedia India has a section called "Other News" which documents news from the larger Indian community for their activities and at times having involvement of Wikimedia India members, but not in Chapter hat. This is done only for the purpose of sharing the community initiatives to the larger audiences. Regarding July-September 2018, there was a typing mistake and instead of "News" it was written as "Events". Thank You for pointing it out and the change has now been incorporated. I must confess that this mistake happened only in the July-September 2018 part & all other quarters the heading carries, "Other News" header.
The "Other News" information is not documented in the Chapter's Annual Activity Report.
Regarding Project Tiger, besides equipment lending, both Wikimedia India members and even executive committee members have been organisers, jury, etc. You may also like to read the FAQ Section on Meta for Project Tiger Editathon 2018 for further queries[1].
The activities undertaken by Wikimedia India can be found from the Events section, the very first section present in every quarterly report [2] while for offline events can be found from either the events section under quarterly reports or Wiki Academy and Wikimedia India Events section.
I hope this answers your concern. Please let us know if there are any other queries in the reports.
Thanks, Yohann Thomas Wikimedia India

Hi Yohann,
Thanks for sharing these reports. Of the several confusions that these reports pose, I would like to stress on this section; http://wiki.wikimedia.in/Reports/July-September_2018#Wikimania_2018.
Several community members, for more than eight months, have been asking about WMIN's President participation at Wikimania 2018. Till date, we haven't heard anything from the President. Being a former EC member, I understand that you (on behalf of the EC and the Chapter) can answer these questions. But considering the gravity of the situation, it would be better if the President of WMIN, as a responsible leader of Wikimedia India, can answer these questions personally on the respective thread.
... and most importantly, the report says "Three executive committee members attended the Wikimania 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa. Rahul Deshmukh, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga and Viswanathan Prabhakaran. Several programs were hosted by Wikimedia India EC members"
***I completely object this***
Though I am not sure of Viswa, I can 100% say that I had purely attended Wikimania 2018 as an independent volunteer, irrespective of my affiliation with WMIN. Even when I applied for the scholarship, I never mentioned about work as a WMIN EC member (as of July 2018). I would like to highlight the fact that Wikimania is purely is user (volunteer) level conference, whereas Wikimedia Summit/Conference is an affiliate-level conference. It is very disappointing to see that WMIN hasn't observed any difference between them.
Again I would like to stress on "Several programs were hosted by Wikimedia India EC members" I consciously neither conducted any activities as a WMIN EC member at Wikimania, nor was I invited to any such discussion (considering the fact that I was an "active" EC member as of July 2018). But publishing such reports even after resigning as an EC member; I feel it as a threat to my identity.
The section also says that AffCom members are in without much experience "The framework does not answer the "who?" question. AffCom? But AffCom can take the affiliate status away and its members are volunteers, probably without much experience in this field." I would like to hear more explanation on this.
Several such things remain unclear and disappointing to me. I'll detail upon them once I hear a response from WMIN about the raised issues, and also its President on the other thread, at the earliest possible.

Dear Krishna,
We have taken due note of your considerations and removed your name from the report[1]. It was only written in good faith since you were then, a very active Executive Committee member & were communicating with The Wikipedia Library Team on Economic & Political Weekly Partnership [2], which was a Chapter initiative, where you discussed in person about it at Wikimania 2018.
