Hi Gopal,
Thanks for the information.
Is it possible for other user groups and communities to provide him feedback somehow? If it is not possible to change the schedule in the last moment and bring him to some other places like Kolkata, is it possible to have an online session with user group and community representatives?
If it is somehow possible, then please make it happen as West Bengal Wikimedians have definitely some concern on the branding proposal which needs to be addressed.
Regards, Bodhisattwa

In line with Bodhi's comments,
I feel that there are several other communities which have been left out in this consultation process. I completely understand that CIS-A2K is trying to accommodate their best to represent all the voices, but it would be even better to include the "major" communities and movement affiliates. I know it is too late to change Samir's plan, but it would be great if CIS-A2K can support representatives from certain communities to participate in-person and voice their opinion about the branding strategy. Physically participating can have much more impact than a remote call.
All Wikimedians from Northern Indian can easily come to Delhi, and South ones Bengaluru. At least, if you think 18th is too close, 21st in Bengaluru can be a good option to invite some experienced Wikimedians (say five people from communities those which haven't been consulted).
I think it is a fair decision to make.
Best, Krishna

Hello, Thanks for your emails and comments. Some notes: Samir contacted CIS-A2K and CIS-A2K is directly co-ordinating the Bangalore meet that is to be taken place on 21 April 2019. Samir also asked other Wikimedians for suggestions. For Delhi and Patiala event please contact Samir (selsharbaty@wikimedia.org ). Event page link: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Brand_Project_-_Community_review_i... CIS is also providing support for a venue in Delhi, and I am will help in the venue in Delhi. For Bangalore meet support contact me. (gopala@cis-india.org)
Following the interesting discussion in the mailing list, we would like to invite interested Wikimedians in India to attend the Bangalore event, organised by CIS, on 21 April 2019. If you are an active Wikimedian from India, and want to join the survey, please email to gopala@cis-india.org and tito@cis-india.org (please send to both) and write in brief the topics/a few questions related to rebranding and strategy you want to discuss in the meet.
We are also in the process of arranging hangout calls for more community input. We will give updates about the online call.

Hi ,
Thank you Gopala for responding and opening up options for community members to join Bangalore meeting, although may be due to this very short notice, that would be very unlikely for many of us to participate physically.
Unfortuantely your reply did not answer most of my questions. As you have said to directly contact Samir for Patiala and Delhi event, my questions are now directed to him.
Samir, I am still confused about how you planned for Patiala and Delhi which is just few hundred kilometers away, completely ignoring other parts of the country with strong communities and without letting anyone know about the event in either mailing list or village pumps. Is it WMF decision to meet only these communities or is it someone from these two communities who recommended to you, falsely portraiying that these are the only active communities in India and others are not? I am also confused after receiving Suyash and Manavpreet's message where they said they had no or little clue about these events happening in their communities!! Even the active community members weren't communicated!!!
So, I am not hopeful that any meaningful conversation will happen in the events, but may be that was the plan, who knows. I am more and more believing on this theory floating around, that rebranding is already a made decision by some people in WMF and whatever happening in the name of community conversation is just a protocol which doesn't matter to anyone.
Anyway, as most of the communities will not participate in the conversation, I expect that there will be proper documentation from now on about what's going on in these 3 events and I would also be very interested to see what Samir will report back to WMF about the conversations.
I am not sure if Samir is in this mailing list, because he is not responding at all, so I am cc-ing him.
Regards, Manoj Kulkarni

Hi,
I have some concerns regarding this whole process which, I think, need to be addressed as soon as possible.
As far as I have understood, Samir is coming to India to get feedback from the Indian affiliates and communities about the re-branding proposal and report it back to WMF. Re-branding is a very debatable proposal which will definitely affect, in a controversial and unclear way, the future of almost all emerging communities, affiliates and sister projects.
So, my questions are, 1) Why was information about Samir's trip to India, not declared to the communities well ahead of time so that the communities and affiliates could express their voices and concerns directly with preparation? 2) Who decided that visiting only Punjabi, Hindi and Bangalore communities is sufficient enough to provide the feedback of all Indian communities? Why were not other communities and affiliates included in the process? What criteria these three communities met so that they can represent the voices from all over the country and why not other communities consulted about this? Why is Samir staying in Patiala, Delhi and Bangalore for extra days for local sightseeing and not utilizing the days to communicate with other communities and who planned for this kind of schedule? How will it be ensured to provide ample opportunity for community members to express their opinions? Online session is not a good option as many don't have the necessary infrastructure to do so.
There is a feeling in the community that re-branding is already a made decision by the WMF and this kind of non-transparency further endorses that theory.
Hoping to get positive responses.
