Dear Wikimedians,
We are glad to invite you to join us for an event in Mumbai on October 7th where Pandita. Neela Bhagwat [1] will donate her comprehensive textual compilation of Gwalior Gharana [2] bandishes.
Timing: 5.30 to 7 pm Venue: Shivaji Park Nagarik Sangh, (hall next to Shivaji statue at Shivaji Park, Dadar)
As some of you may know that Gwalior Gharana is one of the old traditions of Hindustani gayaki and like other gayaki's the tradition has been passed on orally in the guru-shishya parampara. Pt. Neela Bhagwat has over a period of 30 years (of learning and teaching music) meticulously compiled most of the Gwalior Gharana bandishes with notations and notes. Upon the request of CIS-A2K, she has agreed to donate this comprehensive collection which will be scanned and hosted on Wikisource. We hope that this will be of interest to music aficionados and those interested in the study of Hindustani Music.
CIS-A2K is thankful to the event hosts, Khayal Trust. The event will attract a community of Hindustani music lovers and we hope to orient them to consider improving the quality of content on Hindustani music and musicians on Wikipedia during the event. We welcome the community members in Mumbai to join us in this effort. Please help spread the word.
Best, Vishnu

Dear friends,
I am pleased to inform you that the language committee is ready to approve independent Maithili Wikipedia project.[1]
In a related development, a separate mailing list for the language which was denied earlier has been approved on my request for reconsideration. [2]
I just need an endorsement from Maithili language experts that the painstakingly developed content in the incubator project (https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex/Wp/mai) is that of the language and NOT ANOTHER LANGUAGE.
I request help from any friendly quarter -- WMIN / CIS / other volunteers in this direction.
Regards, Muzammil
[1] *Email for Language Committee Member WF Warburg*:
Hello Muzammil and Ganesh,
the activity of Maithili Wikipedia in Incubator is now acceptable for approval indeed. The Language committee is willing to approve it, but usually for the first Wikimedia project in a language, we contact a linguist or other scholar who is an expert in the language, and ask him to verify that the content in Incubator is indeed written in this language (as I already explained to Ganesh when we talked in London).
Do you know any such linguists/expert on Maithili language which LangCom could contact for this verification? Best regards, MF-Warburg
Dear Muzammil, You could try getting in touch with Prof.Uday Narayan Singh, a famous Maithili poet and linguist. See: http://www.udayanarayana.com/. His phone number and address are available from this site.
Regards, Tejaswini

Hi,
Thanks Sudhanwa jee for asking me to comment here.
I know Maithili and worked for Maithili Desktop with project like Fedora, Firefox, Libreoffice, Gnome, KDE. I am also associate with Maithili wikipedia process.
Amir also asked me for the feedback weeks before. This language is Maithili and I know the community working in Maithili Wikipedia. I think, Maithili Wikipedia creation should be approved.

Dear Rajesh,
Can I give out your email to Warburg either as reply-mail or on his talk page?
You might be asked a series of questions pertaining to the existing content on the incubator project, especially the fact that it is indeed Maithili.

We have managed to get this resource, thanks to Dr. Tejaswini's (A2K Advisor) efforts. In her individual capacity she is doing research on Hindustani music and I am sure that she will be able to source some good recordings, historical images and videos and upload them on to commons and also build an interest group that works on improving relevant articles on Wikipedia.
She has committed to getting more content donated from the Hindustani music world. Let's hope that everyone of her effort becomes successful. It will be great, if you are any other Wikimedian interested in Hindustani music collaborates with her in these efforts. Please feel free to write to her off the list.
Cheers, Vishnu
Dear Vishnu,
This is indeed a great initiative and an invaluable contribution to wiki source.
Kudos! Best wishes for the event.
regards Arun
