Good to see so many people are part of this mailing list. It was good to
hear from Eukesh. I had only come across him on his not so good RfA at
enwiki :). I really admire the work he has done for the coverage of Nepal
and related articles at the English Wikipedia.
Today's signpost [

has an article about the Dutch government releasing photos of all cabinet
members under GFDL. This is a landmark move by any government. I hope all
the governments including Government of India follows suit soon. I had once
uploaded hundreds of photos of our MPs, but they all got deleted under as
they did not meet our strict non-free image guidelines.
Is it possible that the Indian government would even consider any petition
like this? Any suggestions on how we can also go about petitioning our
central and state governments to start thinking about releasing photos under
GFDL or PD. Creative-commons has an India chapter now. Could we co-ordinate
with them to start putting pressure on our government?
