I want to change the default name of the "Image" namespace to something like "File"... as I find this more consistent with our use of the namespace now, when we begin to upload other kind of files than images.
What is the best way to go around making this change? Will I have to go through the Sisyfos task of changing all the links pointing to [[Image:filename.jpg]]'s etc. ?
Best wishes, Morten :-)

You can just change the namespace name in languages/Language.php, or whatever langauge you use.

You can run a bot instead, and you can preserve the "Image" namespace name as a "redirect" to the "File" namespace instead of changing it completely. To preserve it, just change the namespace name in languages/Language.php.
(I assume you refer to your local installation, not the whole software.)

Thanks. I changed the namespace names in the language files, but it causes me some problems...
All old [[Image:filename.jpg]] links on individual pages still refer to the [[Image:filename.jpg]] page, which now doesn't exist. Also, for some reason it fucks up the CSS for the new File: namespace pages...
I have absolutely no idea on how to run a bot - is there a not overtly complicated way out of this?
Best wishes, Morten :-)

I changed the namespace names back to their original names and things started working again... However, the CSS of the wiki took permanent damage it seems - for all pages!! Very strange indeed IMO, as I didn't touch ANY css.
Can somebody explain what is going on?
Morten :-)
