Hi,
I'd like to convert a KWiki to a MediaWiki and searched for utilities, but unfortunately I didn't find any. I don't want to copy-and-paste every single site. Do you know any tools, which provide this possibility?
Cheers,
Nicolai

To avoid copy-and-paste, you can use maintenance/importTextFile.php or create a XML dump of the KWiki wiki and import it. However, you'll still need to translate KWiki markup to mediawiki's.

Conversion from one wiki engine to another is generally painful - no-one ever does this job more than once, so there's no continuous refinement of tools. See http://mediawiki.org/wiki/MoinMoin for my experiences with that, for example.
So if you write a script to do the job, please put it up on mediawiki.org ;-)

I got a script converting the whole KWiki database to an XMLdump. The script (http://xoa.petdance.com/Convert_Kwiki_to_MediaWiki) is from Dave Holland.
But from this XMLdump I can't import it to MediaWiki. I'm using importDump.php and after that rebuildrecentchanges.php, but still there appear no recent changes and I can't find the imported pages.
Any idea, why this might happen, or how I can import it in a different way?
Cheers, Nicolai

Maybe try this: $ aptitude show libhtml-wikiconverter-kwiki-perl Maintainer: Debian Perl Group pkg-perl-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org Description: HTML to wiki markup converter - Kwiki dialect HTML::WikiConverter is an HTML to wiki converter. It can convert HTML source into a variety of wiki markups, called wiki "dialects".
This package provides the Kwiki dialect. Homepage: http://diberri.dyndns.org/wikipedia/html2wiki/
