Hello. Could Mediawiki include a feature which allows one to download the wiki page-sources, edit them locally, and upload back? Exactly like the CVS and SVN version control software works.
What would be downloaded? I don't know how Mediawiki stores the text of pages, but the Csound manual (csound.sourceforge.net) has each section in a xml file. Authors may contribute and edit individual xml files. The switch from the monolithic Csound manual to the multipart xml manual has greatly improved the manual. It would be nice if the two worlds could be joined by allowing authors either edit the pages online or offline.
The CVS style access to the wiki pages would also solve the download and offline reading problem if the wiki-cvs would have anonymous read access by default.
