Hi,
I am pretty new to mediawiki, sorry for everything.
I read documentation, checked google but could not find an answer.
I have 4 main categories. I want to show 5 random articles from each 4 categories on my Main Page.
How can I do this?
Thank you...
Write an extension that adds a custom tag which, when rendered, picks the random articles and outputs links to them. Be aware that this would make the page uncacheable, which could be a killer for popular sites. Then again, it might not be a bad idea to skip cache invalidation and have the list updated every-so-often, i.e. when the cache expires.

I guess I have to read more documentation :)
Do I still need this extension if I give up "RANDOM" and show only 5 articles from each category?

You'll still need an extension, yes.
