A separate user preference was introduced in 1.6.0 which allows users to watch pages they create by default, without watching everything they edit.
The translations ought to be "Suivre les articles que je creé", and "Suivre les articles que je modifie".

I've updated the translation in the French localisation files; SVN trunk, r13656; so there's no need. Thanks for the report.
