LiquidThreads is a threaded discussion system for MediaWiki, developed by David McCabe with project management by Stichting Open Progress. It replaces standard talk pages in the wiki. I hope that one day it will be used on Wikimedia Foundation projects.
LiquidThreads development has reached a stage where we'd like to invite the general public to try it out. There is an online demo:
http://wikixp.org/lqt/index.php/Main_Page
Please report bugs & issues _directly on the wiki_ and not on this mailing list.
Sincerely,
Erik Möller CTO, Stichting Open Progress
Hi Erik,
the demo looks really great and I would like to try the extension on my wiki, but I'm totally befuzzled by the "homepage" (???) of LiquidThreads (http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/branches/liquidthreads/ which you get when clicking on the LiquidThreads-Link on the demo-page).
Could you please build an MediaWiki-Extension page with all the information needed to get the extension up and running? Thanks!

Hello,
Actually it looks more like an alpha version. I don't think you want to use liquidthreads on your wiki unless you are a skilled mediawiki developer :)
Anyway, you might want to read the README-liquidthreads file, looks like you have to deploy a new MediaWiki for now.

cheers,

Why a new mediawiki? From what it says, it could be added to an already existing installation.

I doubt it - it's in a branch which, IIRC, has had unmerged modifications made to it, so vanilla MediaWiki probably doesn't have a couple of hooks or something needed to run it.

Oh, i see. Where http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/branches/liquidthreads/README-liqu... says "install MediaWiki as usual" it means "install this modified mediawiki branch as if it were a normal mediawki". Sorry.
