You're right, this is also missing in 1.6.8 installation after you
enable the German interface.
One telling thing is that the German language file MessagesDe.php
lacks all these strings present in the English (and Russian, Slovak,
etc.) language Messages.php file :
"rcshowhideminor" => "$1 minor edits",
"rcshowhidebots" => "$1 bots",
"rcshowhideliu" => "$1 logged-in users",
"rcshowhideanons" => "$1 anonymous users",
"rcshowhidepatr" => "$1 patrolled edits",
"rcshowhidemine" => "$1 my edits",
However, copying these strings from the Messages.php file
to the MessagesDe.php file does nothing to solve the problem.
I can see that the strings are present in the MessagesDe.php file
for MediaWiki 1.7, so perhaps this was an issue in the German
interface in all pre-1.7 versions. (The options are, or course,
available in the German Wikipedia.)
Anyway thank you, Hugh, for making me dive into the German language
configuration files, as I happened to stumble across a piece of code
that finally lets me include the period in the Slovak language date
format. I'm mystified as to why the Slovak Wikipedia does not include
the period in its default date format used throughout the site. The
only correct way to write today's date in Slovak is "11. august 2006".
All you need to do to put the period inside the date is include the
following three lines of code in your LanguageXY.php file, in the
"class LanguageXY extends LanguageUtf8 {" section:
function formatDay( $day, $format ) {
return parent::formatDay( $day, $format ) . '.';
}
