Hi
I'm in the process of installing MediaWiki and am interested in using the Liquid Threads extension to replace the standard talk pages:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:LiquidThreads
It states on the extension page that this extension is being developed with the aim of being integrated into MW 2.0 - is this an aspiration of just the extension developers, or also of the MW developers themselves?
I'm concerned about what would happen if development on this extension stopped one day, and the extension then became incompatible with future versions of MW. If I had to uninstall the extension, does any one know what would happen to the discussions up to that point?
Thanks
Derrick

That extension description page is generally way out of date. There are currently no plans to make LQT part of MediaWiki proper.
Wikimedia is contracting David McCabe, the developer of the extension, to address known bugs, usability issues and add wanted features. Our goal is to experiment with the extension in limited contexts such as site-wide forums and feedback areas. If WMF does end up adopting the extension, even in such narrow cases, it will likely be an organizational commitment to continued maintenance. But currently there is no such commitment from WMF.
LQT is used by WikiEducator.org, which does regularly update MediaWiki, so there is at least one existing community that has an interest in making sure LQT works with recent releases.
Thanks for that Erik.
Do you - or anyone else - know what would happen to discussions that have taken place with the extension installed if it was subsequently uninstalled?
