Isn't the overflow:auto attribute used within div tags? If it is then all you have to do is block <div.

Is there any way to block both '<div' and 'overflow:\s*auto'?
We've been getting inundated with both.

Hi,
once I set
$wgSpamRegex="/<div/";
I had no more automated spam attacks. This blocks users from entering '<div', which might be bad, but I had no complaints yet.

What happens to pages where the <div command is already in place, legitimately?

It'll be ripped out on next edit, I should imagine.

what happens to the formatting it prescribes?

"Ripped out" as in, the edit won't be saved due to the presence of the <div> tag. The formatting will remain as-is until that time.

If <div is blacklisted, then any page which is re-edited which has <div in it will not be allowed to be saved. MediaWiki will state this, and then quote what triggered the edit-ban.
I have <div banned and there is *no* problem whatsoever, except..
I customized MediaWiki:Monobook.css (which doesn't really work, but that's besides the point). If I wanted to edit this particular page, then I'd have to edit my LocalSettings.php to be able to save any changes.
Other than that, there is no difficulty with banning something which is already in use.
As a side-effect, it forces users to tidy up pages before making random additions. =)
