Every other day I see a message saying "Sorry! This site is experiencing technical difficulties. Try waiting a few minutes and reloading. (Can't contact the database server: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) (localhost))"
A restart of the MySQL database seems to fix it then after another couple of days it goes down again.
Any ideas what may be wrong or how to fix this?
Thanks, ~Eric

Try a MySQL support forum, or purchase commercial support from MySQL.

By restart, I guess you mean that MySql isn't running at the time.
Have you checked the system and mysql logs to see if mysqld is crashing? Perhaps someone has a backup scheme which stops mysql while a backup is being taken?
