Hello
When I try to use <math> inside a link like [[C Alpha | C-<math>\alpha</math>]] I got this error:
C-UNIQ5fff60254cf1efb8-math-00000005-QINU http://galileo.lct.jussieu.fr/%7Eframes/mediawiki/index.php?title=C_Alpha&action=edit
Is that normal ? Thanks Francois Colonna

Well, <math> tags usually create images and they cannot be stored in links like that. I doubt it would work even if the "simple math" mode is being used (generating text instead of images). OTOH, why don't you just use the Unicode symbol for alpha (for this particular case)?
