I tried to google it but did not come up with anything useful. Wikipedia has a special version for mobile advices such as iphone. I presume it is a special Skin.
Where can I find this skin and will it work with mediawiki 1.9.3 or is this version to ancient.?

The Wikipedia mobile site uses code that can be found here: http://github.com/hcatlin/wikimedia-mobile. However, it's written *for* Wikipedia, so it probably won't be very useful to you.
The "Chick" skin, one of the defaults in MediaWiki, is pretty lightweight and was originally designed for mobile browsers, if memory serves.

1.9.x is beyond ancient, it's petrified! I _highly_ suggest that you upgrade.
