Hello,
Just came up with another question - is it possible to edit many pages at once to change one exact string to another?
For example, I need to change category of 20 articles; do I have to edit them all one by one or is it possible to just replace category name in some different convenient way?
Thanks, Mike

Move the Category? Does that work?

Hmm, I don't see any means how to do it? Could you describe how to move category?
Mike
There is a script within the Python framework for MediaWiki which moves categories in the manner described.

Hi Mike,
Can't you simply change the links in the database, by an sql request (using phpmyadmin)? Depending on which version of mediawiki you use, there are only a few tables to change...
Hope this helps François www.fxparlant.net

Would it be possible to do it in mySQL, if you have the ability/experience, using a SQL query?

Note that direct editing of the database does not save a new revision, unless you insert a new row in revisions, a new row in text, link the two, and then update the page table.
